Some progress today thanks to help from my lads and an engine hoist borrowed from Leighton at Pro Garage, Warmley, Bristol

Engine is now out and I'll pull the box tomorrow. The gearbox is being rebuilt by TR Transmissions and should be back by the middle of next week. The old clutchnet cluch was slipping badly, but it doesn't look too bad having pulled it out, other than some considerable wear on the pressure plate side.
i am looking forward to seeing it run again Steve...last time i really saw it was as SRS on the rolling road when you, Paul, me and Mark H went on the rollers with Mihnea...years and years back
What would you be looking at charging to do an intake manifold? (I am not looking for one right now, but will be at some point hopefully).
It's not a particularly nice job to do and I would do it differently if I was making another one. I'd use some alloy 3 inch, 90 degree bend to position the throttle body more accurately and definitely try to avoid the need to relocate the PAS pump. The biggest expense is the time it takes to do it and the cost of the Argon for the TIG. If it wasn't for the hell of doing it, I would have bought a Wagner item
Finally the gearbox is out. Not a particularly nice job to do on your own! Now that there's some room in the bay I think it would be wise to pull the steering rack as it's leaking a little fluid and the bellows have split. I think it would also be a good time to hack the battery box out and relocate to the boot. Any other suggestions of jobs to do whilst there's good access?
I've started to clean up the engine prior to getting it back in. 7A Cam cover machined by Hamish (G60Rallye) and sprayed in VHT crinckle paint and new COP's thanks to Mike (europeanme)
