So, now you need a microscope to see what is on the picture i took ?
Stop trying to defend your buddy, it's done, it's done...
I Saw the client this morning, and he decide to invest money on parts, and for that, i will go to see a real specialist known under the name of "TOTS"
The client saw my RS2, and he saw how this car is important for me, it's reason why he trust me !
Stop talking to me anymore if you are not able to recognize something is wrong with this car by looking all the pictures i uploaded !
One thing is very strange, it's impossible to communicate with the ECU by the VAG-COM and obtain any information from the engine ???
Who is responsible, we don't care, what's matter now, is how to fix everything on this car !Comment

One more response from me and after that i'm done talking to that **** head!
Your insult on the quality paint job would probably bring a smile to my painter who by the way teaches his skills at school and participate to big concours events throughout Canada! He will be very happy to hear from a guy like you that you gave him a 6 out of 10 for his work!
Oh...and you said to me that my RS2 didn't seem to be align but guess what? It was...
And guess what also....my doors seem to be perfectly straight or maybe I should have take that picture a lot closer just in case I shot it a mile away to avoid showing imperfections

Have a good life buddy it's all I have to say at the end!Comment

I perform about 90% of the mechanical work on my RS2 and to be honest it is pretty much the same as any other car I've worked on. I wouldn't say you need to be an RS2 specialist to work on an RS2. I have never been trained as a mechanic but I've done a lot of work over the 5 years I've owned mine and I think it runs pretty damn nice.
Raphael's garage is 4000km away from me (Canada is a big country) so I've never visited his shop in person but I have conversed with him over the years and he has ordered RS2 specific parts for me from Europe. I've found him to be very knowledgeable about the RS2 and very professional.
I'd have no hesitation in letting him work on my RS2 if he was closer.

Wow... you make it sound like there are only few people in the world capable of working on these cars.
They must be brain surgeons
(RS2 is not a Bugatti Veyron By The Way)
Of all the places you say it here, THE S2 FORUM.. place where most people are true enthusiasts and are capable and do their own work anyway. Sounds like you cannot..
S2 Avant is as close to RS2 as you can get (fancy brakes, bumpers, mirrors and seats aside), so anyone who knows an S2 can get around RS2 with ease BTDT.
If I was majority of the forum members I would take a great offence to your statements.
In fact, Go
yourself!!

What I dont get is way anyone would pay over 40.000€ for an RS2 if there is no documented history of the millage and the car has been in 3 different countries.
This might be the going price in Canada, being exclusive an all, but being located in Switcherland surely the buyer could have bought something very nice in EU.
And surely if spending more then 40.000€ one would fly up and look at the car.Comment

Pretty logical thoughts there. I wondered the same thing. All the fussing just makes no sense. Something is missing here and its quite clear it's the new buyer and his account. What I dont get is way anyone would pay over 40.000€ for an RS2 if there is no documented history of the millage and the car has been in 3 different countries.

I think the car was misrepresented. I stated on the first page of this thread that i never believed the mileage claims. Unless there was DOCUMENTED proof showing every oil change and ever tire rotation from 0-37k kilometers in japan, i wouldn't believe the claim. My thought, odometer broke (like they all do), owner bought a new one and drove 37k kilometers on the new cluster.
Now misrepresented or not, I think the seller did do a good job on the paint, orange peel isn't unusual and isn't hard to correct. If I was going to drop 50k on the car, i would probably spend 2k (or less) on a plane ticket and checked out the car in person before having it shipped around the world. The seller stated that he took pictures of everything that was asked for and the saw them and could have asked for better pictures, or more defined. Buyer beware.
I think this has hit the nail on the head for me.
My opinion is as follows and I am sorry if it upsets anyone remember it is just my opinion.
That mileage is nowhere near genuine, and this must have been obvious to the seller if he has any experience of buying, working on and selling used cars. It is well known that it is common practice in Japan to replace or reset the odometer when they replace or rebuild a car's engine and it would be my guess that this is an example in practice.
Everyone's definition of "restoration" will be different. A restoration in my opinion should do just that - restore the car to original condition, or very very close. For me this was a good respray and detail - that is all. It is easy to present a car well in pictures and any serious buyer should know that. However comments in the for sale threads such as "This RS2 needs nothing and is like new!" are clearly not accurate. In that respect I would have been pretty pissed off if I'd driven 100 miles to view it based on the description, I would have been going mental if I had flown thousands of miles to see it. I would expect this dealing with a member of the public, not from a business who supposedly know & "restore" these type of cars and for that reason I think the car was falsely advertised - sorry.
Following on from that, why anyone would buy this kind of car over that kind of distance for that kind of price without viewing it or having it thoroughly independently inspected I find incredibly naive and frankly stupid. It's a used car, sold as seen with no warranty implied of given as far as I can see. So the buyer has no come-back - they should've taken a keener interest in what they were spending their hard earned on. Buyer beware indeed.
Regarding the public nature of this "disagreement" I'm afraid I don't have any sympathies. The seller chose to use this forum as a platform to show off their work on this car and "advertise" it for sale. That door swings both ways. Since it has been established that this is the same car in my opinion it is legitimate.
