Ehm no pressure this is the return line and the hose is a replica of the original hose, so I dont forsee any problems.

Its not the rack actually, it's the pressure building inside the power steering hose.

I may be mistaken though since this does not seem to be the hose that goes from the pump to the rack, ie not seeing high pressure and therefore you should be fine.

Why would my steering rack be making horrible noises?

Had to bore to 81,5mm pistons, but rebuild is progressing nicely now. Ended up getting Woesnerr pistons from CS-parts.de

Also had my local hose specialist make a new return hose for the bomb and steering rack. It was leaking multiple placed. Ended in 70 euro compared to 200+ euro at Audi.

Next step is to machine the 7A head so it can be fitted to the block.

Does anybody know where the diamond washer is located at the crank pulley?

Oh yeah will have a Tommis Billet crank pulley for sale.
Are you sure about this hose you made? Your steering rack will be making lots of horrible noises! The audi hoses are evil! Not only expensive

Always as nice to see an I5 block in this state.

    Area 0 bore 81mm: 5150,39mm^2
    Area 1 bore 81,5: 5214,17mm^2
    Area 2 bore 82,5: 5342,91mm^2

    Stroke: 86,40mm

    Volume 0: 2.225cc
    Volume 1: 2.253cc
    Volume 2: 2.308cc

So that is a gain of 83cc compared to stock or 55cc from 81,5 to 82,5 not worth it in my opinion.
When looking at needing new gasket, thinner walls, re boring could be an issue if engine would fail again (not that I think that)
