So it is a 3 plug like this one below? (Makes no sense if you didn't have infrared (IR) remote or an alarm horn that beeps)

This is the same one i got Dave Mine had alarm IIRC and also the horn in trunk,driver side panel(I think its green one?)

You lock it with a key in the door, right?

The beep is correct for a 3 connector control module(they have an alarm). The "farting" noise is the vacuum pump inside the control module pulling a vacuum and activating the door and hatch/boot locks.

My first Audi, an 80 tdi saloon would fart everytime I locked the doors!
I didn't realise at the time that this was as Audi intended!
Oh well, I guess it beats the sound of my wallet wretching
everytime an Audi related repair was imminent!

EDIT: looking at the diagram, does it mean my pump has an output for footwell lights?

The footwell lights are on the same circuit as the grab handle lights. My 93 UrS4 has footwell lights but my 94 UrS4 V8 Avant does not. The central locking and light control module would turn them on (with the grab handle lights) but they were never there. To add to the interior light on the avant when I unlock the car, I bought another set of three switch position rear grab handles and installed them in place of the original two switch position front grab handles (I also did this on the 93 UrS4)

Right Click Remote wiring - 3 connector and 2 connector

The previously used diagram for the 3 connector plug 257D central locking and lighting control module (where you need one key turn to unlock the one door but two key turns to unlock all the doors) was this:

The 257C central locking control module in the V8 avant was only a 2 plug and there was no remote and no alarm. One key turn unlocks/locks all the doors (and hatch) at one time. As result the wiring is simpler:

Thanks for that Dave I need to get new vacuum line for driver's door as Audi were stupid enough to fir plastic ones
