I just connected my brake booster with a check valve to the intake. No accumulator. Works great. -
Could you please tell me the part number of this switch? ( 92-85 )Leave a comment:

Did a small drive with the car. Few things to resolve before more driving. The brake pedal needed quite mutch force to press, then I realised I havn't connected vacuum to the brake booster.
Need to get a check valve for it, and I will also use a vacuum accumulator. I first was thinking of an electric vacuum pump, but I'll try first with the accumulator.
Also the brake fork need to be longer. The pedal sits too low now. The A8 booster has a shorter shaft than orginally. Already machined a threaded extension part for the fork. Secured with a weld.
Then another problem. My windscreen vipers don't work. Is there some usual place on these B4's to check that can cause this?Leave a comment:

Yes, downloaded the defauld coolant patch with the new firmware, but it could be wise to check the temps with an laser gun. Anyway I'm using aftermarket fans on this and they are connected in the high power output. The stock fan sensor mode2 switch point is something like 102-92C. I bought a 92-82C switch and now it starts the fans at 98 and stops at 95, so its little better now.Leave a comment:

If you have used an original bosch coolant temp sensor then use the default bosch patch from vems setting. That should be more accurate. A reading of 98 99C may start getting vems to overfuel as part of safety so make sure the coolant calibration is correct. In fact get a laser temp gun to doublecheckLeave a comment:

Well the temperature is taken from the back of the block? It's the most hottest place for coolant. I had same issues(driven ~94* degrees and when idle'd for a while ~98* degrees), even with AAN manifold adapted Vidars thick 70mm coolant radiator. 82* degree thermostad made it all good. Code: 069 121 113 S3, febi code: 18280.
Mesurements with Maxxecu and double checked with infrared temperature "gauge"?Last edited by Kiku; 14 March 2017, 19:59.Leave a comment:

Yea, I'm not sure about the right calibration, but also cluster temp gauge goes some bit over 90C.Leave a comment:

So coldstart(~20C) was just fine today so seems to get right amount of fuel to start properly. The coolant expansion tank started to leak as it had a crack and was repaired with silicone. Bought a new and fitted it today. The engine runs quite hot at idle, it stays at 98-99C, the fans keep the temp there. The fan thermostat could be little cooler version. Havn't driven with the car yet, so don't know how it holds the temp when cruising.

Sounds awesome and such a good looking car! Look forward to a drive-by video
I wish I had those wheels and all that room that you have with the front mount rad.Leave a comment:

Ok, thanks. One more vid. Not much happening but anyway...

On VEMS you've got that "Flood clear mode" you can use.
Marc pointed this out to me and it has been useful when I was trying to diagnose whether I was too rich or too lean.
To get into flood clear mode hit 100% throttle while cranking.
Good to see you've got it runningLeave a comment:
