3b to AAN ecu pin out

Could you expand a bit more on your wiring diagram. In pin 50 on AAN ecu, it states, the VSS new pin needs to be added. Where on the 3b engine am I going to get a Vehicle speed signal? I thought in the 3B motor your distributor sends exactly the same signal that the cam position sensor sends on the AAN head. Also in pin 54 on the 3B ecu it says Coding plug, Pin 4, what does that mean exactly and do I not need that in the AAN application just leave it in pin 54 with no side affects? I am in the middle of trying to figure all this out and your help would be greatly appreciated.

        Cheers Mate

Make sure you have F76 correct and VSS in place as well - for the launch control I expect is coming your way !

Nathan: Paul N. hasn't been posting on the forum for months so in case he doesn't respond to this old thread, here is some info that I have that might help you:

              Hi Nathan,

You can find VSS signal behind the instrument cluster. It is white/blue wire.
Should be located on Pin 18 on connector 26A.

Rgarding pin 54 then N/C means that you should remove this wire and not have anything connected. So take it out of the plug and just tape it up. THere are a couple of other wire that you dont need anymore.

I just completed the ABY pin swap and migration to RS4 coils today. I found removing the pins from the ECU connector a real pain until I made a couple of tools to persuade them out. I must say the car feels a lot smoother with the COP's and ABY ECU. It's also nice to be able to get the extra data from VAG Com.

Here's the tool I made to help get the pins out of the ECU plug. It's a ground down feeler blade and a small screwdriver also ground down on one side.

How did you get the purple pin lock bezel to move (and which way)? I couldn't get mine (spare harness) to move more than 1mm - not enough to release the pins from the brown connector.

I found I had to push the cables and pins towards the front of the connector to be able to remove them. Otherwise when you push the tool in the front, you can make the barbs on the pins catch the housing.

Link to my previous ECU connector de(con)struction.

The connector on the 3B is white plastic and it doesn't have the purple sliding section. There are three distinct parts to the 3B connector: The main connector body, a thin center section and the rear section which clips onto the main body and clamps the middle section in place. I didn't take pictures due to the location/space in the footwell.

I did have a major tourette attack during the pin swap due to the pain in my arms and ribs from kneeling into the passenger footwell for hours

I connected the white/blue wire from the radio to the new pin on the ECU connector. Pin 50 from memory. How can I check VSS is working? Take a drive with Vag Com connected and check the group which displays vehicle speed?
