Based on some generic information on one of those sites we'd be looking at 15% injection of 50:50 water meth if you're using it all the time.

To co-ordinate refueling with refilling of the water meth we'd need the following tank sizes based on a quick "by volume" calculation:

Avant 64 litres of fuel; 9.6 litres of water meth; 4.8 litres of methanol

Coupe 70 litres of fuel; 10.5 litres of water meth; 5.25 litres of methanol

Does anybody know the capacity of the windscreen washer fluid container?

Methanol is costing anywhere from £0.50 to £2.00 a litre depending on quantity so if purchased in a reasonable quantity it's not going to be a deal breaker on running cost.

I know the urS4 bottle is 6.4litres so i guess the S2 item is less than that. 3B's had two separate bottles, one for windscreen and one for headlight washers, where as ABY had a single tank for both so you could fit the second 3B tank (next to radiator) and just use it for the injection system.

I didn't know that about the 3b, interesting..

The volume of the free space inside the spare wheel of an avant is 13 litres. Anybody want to make an alloy tank? That would leave excess water meth mix to allow permanant map changes to be made.

My 3B has one tank with two pumps, but interesting if you could get seperate tanks. That would be great.

Just looking in ETKA to see if I can find anything and I just found something.

So normal windscreen container used on older 3B without headlight system:
          893 955 453C ~ 20 euro

Newer style container which has a slot for two pumps also used on ABY:
          8A0 955 453 C ~ 48 euro
In this container the level sensor is built into the pump.

          Water level sensor
          443 955 523A ~ 18 euro

I was thinking this is what you need if we use our own container, pump and level sensor.
You could then just piggy back onto the stock level sensor or use the pump with built in level sensor.

1x DVC-30 Controller - built in map sensor up to 30 PSI, should be enough for most people. - 170$
            1x Nozzle mounting adapter - 15$
            1x Nozzle holder - 9$
            1x Check Valve - 30$
            1x Outside mount Nozzle - 20$

Then ofcourse you would need tubing from pump to valve. They same to use something similar to Festo fittings.

Any thoughts if anything else is needed.

            Also what

I think the stock pump won't provide enough pressure. See question number 13 on this link:

              http://www.alcohol-injection.com/faq.php?cID=1

That said it would be worth checking out if the stock pump was capable of making a nice thin spray. It'd be magic if it could deliver.

The £281 kit linked earlier includes the high pressure pump.

I fitted water injection on my Cq 3B engine last SORN and being playing with it this Summer. With a few tweaks from Paul it certainly makes a difference (especially in hot weather) and need to get it on a rolling road now to assess what the AFR's are like and so Paul can then play with the timing as well. So more potential to be had, though might wait until I have this 7A block ready to swap over before spending money on getting it spot on. Have an article in the Audi Driver about it if anyone wants it, big file so need to send via e-mail to those interested.

Good to know you can notice the differance in hot weather without mapping for it. Have you any details on the kit you installed? I'll pm you my email.... Thanks.

                          Here is the deal.

If you want the system to work well, you need a progressive system, mated to IDC.
Otherwise it will not be really possible to tune it all that well on stock ECU.
Another thing that is important is a failsafe, which gets triggered when the meth tank is empty or there is some other issue.
This failsafe should be mated to the ECU to switch it to normal maps.
Basically I am telling you to get Aquamist HFS-3...

Expect around 20% gains on Water/Meth mix.

If the problem is only heatsoak, it's easier to fit a water spray bar on the stock IC and have Motronic control the water spray based on engine conditions.

Also, I did not read further than "fuel sucks in Ireland" in the thread. No time sorry.

I didnt realise the HFS-3 was so clever... that should make for easy integration with Motronic - including the logic that calls for a normal map when the WIMI bottle is empty or its controller cries some fault.

@Shane - I'll have some time towards end of this month to look into this properly but it looks very viable... got lots of balls in the air right now !

Devils own progressive kit does the same minus map switch http://www.alcohol-injection.com/dvc...age-2-305.html

There is a lot of information already out there especially on audisrs where devils own are a sponsor

Water injection works well with a good atomising injector post intercooler. Add Meth to it and watch your Intake guides wear out super quick as the methanol reacts with the phosperous bronze guides.

As an example 95% of the time only exhaust guides require replacement on 1.8t's the 5% the intakes need replacing too the cars have always run water meth. I've seen the guides so worn at times they are completely ovalled ready to break through.
