But then you get this, from a different thread:
Point being, the plugs should at least be checked for a) tightness (30 Nm) and b) damage/fouling. Running rich at low RPM could foul them - which then might produce poor performance at WOT in mid-RPMS, until the fouling is burned off and then, at a higher RPM range, they clean themselves up and run okay until the next cycle of low rpm rich fouling, etc. Check after some low RPM (no WOT) runs around town.RS2'd 93 UrS4 5 spd sedan

Hi, if I get time in the garage today I'll take them out and have a look at them.
I got to use the car quite a bit yesterday and if I got it not pulling, if I closed the throttle for a second or two then opened it back up it pulled well every time! As it going on the over run for a short time made it ok! That or changing gear!Comment

Somebody should have an idea of the cause from this description ?Hi, if I get time in the garage today I'll take them out and have a look at them.

Weird..
Could be a plug breaking down.

Ok I'll say it!
Have you checked you are actually getting full throttle reliably!
I guess most of the regular contributors have bottled out of mentioning the TPS but first use the measuring block in Vagcom to verify that at WOT its over 90. Do this with the car stationary and ign on. If it less you will need to adjust the throttle cable to get it.
Unlesss of course this is a mechanical issue with the throttle body that is hanging up somehow when its at the beginning of its travel yet when going from one stop to the other its ok. Wouldn't hurt to physically examine the TB to verify that you can manually open it to full throttle.
Before you ask the TPS is, according to the experts, only used for boost control.
This does as a previous member pointed out fit in with our its on the car theory rather than a sensor. I have never seen one taken apart but it must eventually wear. Must be some sort of bushing/seals involved somewhere.Comment

I've been thinking that when it loses power it's because you're losing one cylinder, because the ECU is still giving good boost but the power is less.Comment

Hi. I have checked multiple times the throttle switch function and was replaced regardless to rule it out further to no avail.
I have popped a new set of NGK plugs in today and still no better
Tomorrow I'm going to check the fuel FLOW as so far all I've checked is the pressure foolishly! Is it possible when I change gear the flow is catching back up on itself????Comment

but if so consider changing to NGK.
