A day checking boost leaks helps no end too.
One of my ECU's always shows 0.1-0.2 higher boost than is actually happening, even with the engine off.

Miti-vac and dash reading. That bad ecu always gave a high idle too strangely.

If I remember, your car was slow / reluctant to make boost?

Not exactly. It made boost but hung back and showed lean running.

G71 MAP Sensor and F96 Altitude sensor info

That would make sense but unfortunately VAG-com does NOT have measuring block for the G71 MAP sensor for our ancient ECUs, only the F96 Altitude Sensor. The problem is the G71 is multipin and soldered to and integrated with the ECU printed circuit board(s) - no separate output test pin. All you can "hope" for is a fault code.

I was also comparing my manual gauge with my dash one.

Car is running a treat now. Went to Automark on Friday for a remap to suit the RS2 parts I'd bought. We went down the route of doing away with the N75 and going Spring control, I know this is a touchy subject on here but personally I prefer the way my car boosts now, it's a lovely steady control which I never saw with the N75. Brilliant guy is Mark, totally down to earth and wouldn't go anywhere else.
Car goes like a rocket now and I absolutely love it!!!!!

Now Re the de chroming as macspring asked, it looks just perfect to me now BUT it isn't a cheap way of doing it. Removing the gutter rails and replacing with items from a later car is supposed to be a swine of a job so I opted to ask my bodyshop to paint them and the B & C pillars gloss black on the car. Now it may be because the guy I use is a perfectionist but it took him 13 hours all told to prep them enough to get a good key and paint them. Did do the bumper too though!

You could have done the de-chroming yourself with Plastidip, that's how I did my A6, been on nearly 2 years now and still looks good

I did think about tackling it myself but I'm too busy with other people's cars at work and when I'm not there, have a missus and 2 kids (3 including the dog!) so I never get the time.

Andy, am I correct to assume you did it in place rather than take them off to Plastidip it ?

                          Thanks.

Yes yes, they stayed in place. Tops of doors came off as they're easier!

This is the guy who looks after the bodywork on mine and who did the black. Can't recommend him high enough, best paintwork I've ever had done!!
