reminds me of the tweeters in my C4, also some sort of cloth on the inside of the cover. removing that made a bib (positive) impact on sq.
maybe I missed it, but what do you have as front speakers?

fwiw: I don't see the point in the rear tweeters, I just disconnected them and have the rears do mids only. a bit of low level rear-fill is all I need, more will mess up the stereo imaging.

      These are the front speakers.

Apparently they are the new generation that are using carbon fibre.

With coax you will defo hear an improvement with the open covers

I have a compo set in the front, so I didn't bother with the covers

You need a pair of the OEM high end speaker grills

If you haven't already fitted the fronts, you may find that there isn't enough room for the magnets to allow the speaker to sit down fully, hopefully not, but mine needed 'adjusting' a bit.

Henkjan I see that yours appear to be blocked the same as mine obviously a common issue with the casting process.

I would recommend clearing the holes or replacing them with a better cover.

Clearing the holes is not a nice job.

The new front speakers should fit.

                    New on the left

I could dust off my audio measurement gear and measure my midwoofer with and without the cover

alternative to clearing all the holes would be clear all out except the outer ring and cover that with proper speaker cloth

Hope so! But it was the diameter of the magnet that was the issue for me...

                          Old mag diameter = 55mm

                          New mag diameter = 75mm

Looking at the space available it should go in. look like the padding is quite thick if I need to remove some.

Just cut off two securing tabs on the RHS speaker and did my test fit.

                            It fits .

As previously mentioned in other posts masking tape and a sealed cover must be put over the speaker to eliminate any metal filings getting into the workings of the speaker when cutting off the fixing tabs.

With both grills cleared of blockages, its time to wire up the front speakers and fit them.

Update on the rear speakers, I am just waiting on the four top locating clips to arrive from Audi Tradition and the side panels will be able to go back in.

                            So far so good.

The head unit is coming up next

Both front speakers in and connected (soldered joints and heat shrink)

                              Both rear speaker cable in.
