Yep that's it, they pop back out. I just checked the billies they're feel quite a bit stiffer still. No nothing in the history. They could have been changed by VRS as it went there once i believe, Alex,or Steve the owners on the forum before me although he never said anything, only about condenser rad and cam belt change.

There is a recept for the Konis although they're now gone just no receipt for the Boge Audi ones. Oh well it is what it is.Bilsteins will be rulling the roost now, along with eventually a fully rebuilt suspension.

Here's the rear suspension assembly from the parts car.

I'm hopping someone can shed some light on this. I dropped this out yesterday, the whole rear assembly minus it's lower arms of the ACK 30v quattro. The good thing is all of it is the same and can be used for the S6 rear suspension rebuild but i would like to know the answer to this question.

Is the diff compatible with the AAN or does it have a different ratio?

The other question is as the whole assembly is original quality Audi parts from 1996 and covered only 46k the rear track control arms are in superb condition but the dust boots are starting to perish. Is there anything i can do about this ? without having to shell out silly money to Audi for new ones? Cheers.

No idea on the 30v diff ratio, S6 will be 4.11 as far as I know.

You can fit new ball joint boots, they are held on with wire spring clips. You can buy them on ebay,

            http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_fr...boots&_sacat=0

I have also robbed them from drop links etc I have had in the garage.

Depends on whether the engine was mated to an auto or manual.

I see CKF marked on the diff which is a hopeful sign but confirm by spinning and out put flange and counting how many turns it takes to spin the input flange 360 deg. > 4 = okay; <4 = won't work.

And there are no replacement boots for those upper track arm links. Either live with it and spray them with messy white lithium once and a while or replace. Lemforder, TRW, or Febi (probably in that order of preference. Left side is different than right side).

Thanks Andy, those dust boots in the link at the opposite end of the photo below are all in perfect condition. It's these i need, they look very different but Dave says not available.Hmmm. I really want to refurb these as there's no mileage on them.

Thanks Dave for the info, the cars a manual and i'm afraid to say after doing what you said it's a fraction under 4 turns. I wonder whats needed to make it a 1 : 4;11

That's so annoying Dave that those upper track arm links boots aren't available as i'm very reluctant to buy new,as there's nothing wrong with these and it's likey nothing will last as long either. According to Alex error404 where TRW are concerned on his S2 they lasted a year only. I know you mentioned Lemforder first and i know they make good stuff but do you know anybody who's had them for a good while without complaint? The 1990's Genuine original Audi ones last at least 15 years and what 150k miles? Boots would do me perfect and the satisfaction of once painted knowing i have originals.

I changed rear tie rod to FEBI last MOT and still going strong. All FEBI parts have lasted very well I must say.

In regards to diff, I'd like to say that it is the same diff, it doesn't make sense to make 2 diffs with ratios that close.

I thought they still had the wire clips?

Ebay tie rod for £9 and rob the boots?

I think you'll find there is that small difference Janis just to aid acceleration, happy to be corrected though. Regarding back to what we spoke about earlier, the whole rear assembly is exactly the same as S6 hubs, bearing size and all.

You get 3.89 and 4.11 quattro diffs.

Crown wheel and pinion, but that does not really seem worth it?

3.89 would lower the cruise rpm. And make something explode if it does not match the front diff.
