I would like to have it sandblasted to have a nice clean surface on this rack but after that, proper clean and check should be necessary. Also, if there is some leak, i cant see it, as its really dirty, but that piston rod looks clean/dry and rubber cover as well dry. Maybe there could be some leak on that upper area (around fittings), there are some bolts.

Personally I wouldn't be putting sandblasting anywhere near it, they would probably insist on it being stripped and then you are back to square one, and then one piece of grit left in it ruins a seal and you are doing the whole job again.
It should clean up well with degreaser, use a brass wire brush to bring it back to bright aluminium. If you really want it to stay shiny then a coat of etch primer followed by 2-pack silver and clear cost and it will be like that a long while.

Honestly, I am not sure, if I feel good about the fact, the steering will stay untouched, only surface cleaned . I think this steering is in the car from the beginning, and in this case, it could start to leak anytime soon. I don't want to remove steering rack ever againAudi Coupe Quattro 2.3 20V

But thé question is. Are these kits good enough these days? As every company tell you what you want, but in reality they using some cheap ****. Its not 5 oř 10 years old car, but 34. They are not used to rebuild these racks massively.

Today, I removed thé old flashpoint alarm/Central system. I was really shocked how joints/splices were made. Lots of twisted wires together only with some electric tape.
I assume that this aint from factory. Cant say if the central locking Will work after this removing :-D but ať least Its a fresh start to keep OEM locking system.
Folks, does someone have a stock anti theft system in the car? In coupe should be in the trunk.
