The oil cooler got fitted.




Then time to dig out some oil filters.



This tool is essentially for getting the 20nm torque correct.



I have some cheap oil for first fill. It will get drained after a good run and then I will swap to the expensive stuff.


The intercooler cleaned up very nicely.

Before I started fitting the hoses I wanted to get some stainless clips. The hoses came with mild steel clips which I didn't want to use. Merlin Motorsport sell Norma at a reasonable price. I only ordered them yesterday afternoon and they came lunchtime today. I always get good service from Merlin.


Getting the boost hoses on is a challenge in a Ur.



All fitted.


I put some water in and nothing came out underneath which is always a bonus. I added a flush as I need to clean her internally.


And I put new oil in for the pas.

Do merlin do specific kits for the jubilee clips or do you have to give them sizes, could do with replacing most of mine

I've seen people put the coolant expansion bottle in the dishwasher, can sometimes bring it up better? Might be worth a try!

Busy fruitful day.
This morning I did the fuel pump relay mod and fitted a kill switch for the battery.



Then I pulled the relay fuse and turned the engine over until the oil light went out.
Then went for a start.
She fired up straight away.
The pas pump was a little noisy until the oil had re circulated but otherwise she was ticking over nicely and not revving up on her own as before.
I ran her up to temperature and burped the coolant bottle by lifting it up as high as possible.


A quick look underneath and we are all good with no leaks.
Next onto gas test. She was running very rich before.



Very happy with that. Just under 1%.

Ran the engine for about 20 mins in total to let the coolant system cleaner do its work. Heater full on.
Then I drained it. Yuk.



Next up I re filled with plain water and ran it up to temp again before draining again.
Then filled with G12 antifreeze mix.


Just a couple of issues noted.
First the lower warning light came on and off. I think this is bomb pressure. It could just be air in the system as I haven't properly bled it yet.
Next issue was the fuel gauge was on zero. I know there are four gallons in there. So I hot wired the sender.


And the gauge went to full. So I have a fault with the sender. Nla as usual.

Next job is to re fit the arb.

Thanks. Its been a lot of time but i do enjoy working on these old girls. Its very satisfying when you take one in broken and barely running and put it back where it should be.

What are going to do about the fuel sender Dave? Mine is are from reliable so just set the mileage trip each time I fill up. Enough jobs on at the moment!

I'm going to have a look at it and see if it can be fixed.

Just got the morning in the garage today. Fitted the arb. Really easy with poly bushes.



However, doing it in my own meant I needed a helping hand.



Next up the wheels got a clean. They are the original 6j. Not in the best condition and horrible budget tyres. I'm on the lookout for a newer 8j set.




Then they got fitted.
