        • On the old 2.2 block i used a simple Torx tool. Nothing fancy.

          • but the hole is little, how did you pull out the valve? Or does it came off itselft after you unscrewed the plug?

Sorry for these stupid questions, but as i tried myself, cannot imagine how to get the valve out from the hole

            • I would not say 750 is a really low idle.
Stock RS2 is programmed to idle at 740 rpm, AAN/ABY at 800 rpm.

Don't ask me why they lowered it on RS2.

              • I never had on the stock engine 740 idle (RPM gauge), it was always at about 850.

Right now I prefer something more and I set it to 980 on Vems with the reclocked 7A cams.

                • Gauge is wrong.
But stock RS2 idles at 740 rpm. Many chips edit that to 800 rpm to be like AAN.

There is no cars that idle at 850, unless someone specifically remapped it to idle there.
This is of course with warm engine, with cold engine idle is higher.

                  • maybe it was remapped there also. The car was chipped when I bought it.

                    • Yea, if it was chipped then it is likely it was set to 800.

                      • I never said it wasn't. I can make the idle 1100 rpm if you want to, just that I have not seen any generic chips with the idle higher than 800.
Yes, with 7A cams it is better to raise idle a bit.

                        • while i am sorting out small oil leaks here and there I managed to make small run and record it to see if there is any knock. (Boost was with a small spike at 1.3 and then at 1.25 bar- Injector DC at 5700 RPM was 60 with a lambda of 0.83 on the Siemens 630 injectors with 3.8 bar FPR)

maybe interesting for some is the spool time at gear change: from -0.3 bar till 1.3 it takes 1 sec.

A log screenshot and the knock sensor recording:

                          • As posted on another thread I got the chance to try/use a 10 bladed hx40 turbine impeller instead of the 12 bladed version.

Apparently this impeller has 10-15% less maximum flow than the 12 bladed but should spool faster.

As you can see except the blade number the profile is also different with the 12 bladed with shorter more curved blades and the 10 bladed with longer but more streight on the base.

                            • I also too a picture of the turbine impeller that I used till now and the inside of the downpipe.

Doesn't the color of the turbine blades look healthy?

                              • Today, the car was standing for 2 weeks it took some secs to get it to start followed by a puff of smoke. After that nothing.

Any ideas what this could be?
