Id go with 4wheeldrifter on this as the only other option would be is to cut it and then worry about the stud when you have the diff on a workbench

If you have rounded of a cap(allen) headed bolt, use one of your new tools (torq bit) hit that into where you would fit the allen key use a breaker bar to undo.

Nope. Not if you use a decent socket. As I said, I had to do about half of my propshaft bolts like this. I continue to use the socket.
You just need a vice or mole grips to get the offending bolt back out the socket. Sometimes you wish you didn't smack the socket on so far.

It's a tried and tested method. Just find a socket that will nearly fit over the head of the offending bolt, and hammer it on.

and i do intend to do anything and everything to get the job done but the diff is to go down to Sal so I really don't want to do any damage to it.

balls to it - that bolt is coming off on saturday if I have to chew it off. :mischeif:

Brute force, thats the way to go. Tbh if it was me and I had that sort of task infront of me (and it was all mine) i'd just go at it any way I could do till I got it all sorted.

It's just that one and I really don't want to cut it off and mess about trying to get the remains out later.
If the royal mail would ever deliver the cans of freeze spray i'll be giving that a bash.

cheers for the support by the way. very much needed.

You need the support, you must have balls the size of melons to attempt this!

I really hope you do succeed though.

    Cheers,

    Steve.

For the bolt, I would suggest a set of twist sockets like these

Irwin tools also make a set which I got for around £30
