        A small update:

I am dialing in the 'normal cruising' settings for VEMS, which in sense for me means I am setting req_fuel (value 4.2 currently) under Basic Settings and adjusting the VE table now for off-boost. Everything runs fine now and yesterday I spent 2 hours on the highway doing real-time settings, Burn to ECU while driving, and instantly see lambda changes happening etc. How cool is that!

The last few days I spend time with friends Nero and Jaco to change the flywheel and clutch. Damn what a lot of things can go wrong

First we broke off bolts from the linkage at the front wheels to better be able to pull the wheel to the outside in order to loosen the drive shafts. The bolts were so rusted and weak that they snapped off instantly. Good that we replaced them with fresh new ones, before the car gets mapped next week, but it takes again more time then initially planned

I put in the 7kg 7A lightened flywheel instead of the dual mass ABY FW. Wow what a difference this gives On some revves say between 1000-2000 RPM I hear sometimes a rattle/ticking noises which could come from my FW or gearbox. They could have been dampened by the DM FW before, but I noticed them after installing the clutch and FW. Let's hope they go away or at least do not get louder......

The new sinter clutch engages quite direct and in a short clutch pedal stroke. It's a bit getting used to in 1st and reverse gears, but nothing really upsetting. The rest of the car feels good and I cant wait to get the car mapped next week!

Can you make a youtube clip of that sound Bram?
And why did you lightend the 7a FW?

Looking foreward to see your dyno results with vems

I could, but wonder if you can hear the sounds as my exhaust is over-booming everything else

The choice for a lightened 7A FW over a aluminium FW was made because I have not balanced my bottom end, and I worried if this would cause problems over the time when I would go too light with an alu FW.
The dual mass ABY FW was in the area of 13kg, while the lightened 7A wheel is 7kg. Since it's steel I hope it does not come loose like some aluminum ones seem to be doing.

Let's see where we end up with the new CT355 turbo and VEMS. The turbo spinning sound is a lot more loud than the Garrett one I had

Ok, and how much you think, does the lightend 7a differ from the DM aby FW? (drivability, acc, deacc, etc) Just curious to see how it differs from person to person.

I liked the spinning sound that my GT produce, but if the CT produce even more, wow, that have to be insane loud
How about we get a taste of that sound Bram?

bram if you are using an open filter with your turbo it will be louder anyway than having the RS2 filter box and KN filter in it

+ for some reason i hear the turbo more ever since i started using VEMS eventhough i havent changed anything to the engine bay.

I am not using an open filter. The turbo seems to be spinning much louder, but lets see how it goes under full boost later next week

Extra turbo noise is mainly coming from the lack of balancing. CT isn't balancing it's cartridges as good as Garrett does. This doesn't have to do anything with reliablility, just noise issues.

i thought that balancing a turbo is standard procedure

Yes ofcourse it is, but for noise reduction it takes another balancing operation.

Interesting to know that there is something called turbo-sound balancing.
Well maybe I am just wining too much about noise of something small like turbo spinning sounds, while I want +450 HP I actually should not care about noise
