        • So moral is check the main AND head arp for valve crush.

here is the 034 custom ARP with warning about main stud http://www.034motorsport.com/engine-...-i5-p-343.html

          no head stud warning http://www.034motorsport.com/engine-...lve-p-158.html

Honestly never heard of the head bolts causing this before must have missed a80avants issue with it in the past.

          • The head studs cannot have caused this, look at where they are in relation to the one way valve. The studs screw into the block about 50mm max, the one way valve must be at least 100mm away.

              • Hmmm I think I need to get mine checked now.... I'm only seeing 1bar on a warm/hot idle and after a Castle Coombe thrash it was down to 0.8bar. Still >4bar at 2,000rpm though so I'm not concerned...

Glad to see you got to the bottom of this Andy, I assume Rich had to pull the rad etc out to get to it rather than haul the engine back out?

                • Just measured my 3B block and the one way valve is 185mm from the deck surface, it's the mains bolts/studs that are crushing the valve.

                  • cheers for the 2.2 check Andy, I thought it was weird that it was only the mains we were looking out for if the heads studs could crush it.

I bet that the valve was insert before the main bolts

                    • yes, i must correct, its the main bolts that did this to mine.

i was lucky that my original setup had this crushed but still made 100K kms without issues. I guess the mechanic realised there was something there that shouldnt overtighten at the time!!

                      good news Andy!

                        • The car is now running

Just been warmed up, and the first filter and batch of mineral oil is being dropped with the car having been warmed up.

                          Awesome result!
