I've got a Milltek hyperboost DV that you can borrow if you want. PM me your address if you need it.

Let me put it this way.
This tune is perfect. Timing is conservative, but fueling is perfect.

I am mapping cars in the Ukraine at the moment, and on the last three cars it was perfect, as on the ten cars before it, besides yours.

So if it is going rich and not boosting, you have a leak, pretty simple.
The fact that it can't hold pressure only confirms it. It should hold 1 bar for ages.

He's ruled out the DV and i think WGFV. Looks like the car's getting mothballed till the Spring now, it really needs some thorough investigation to find out why the block is getting pressurised - that's got to be the root cause of this - and really that can only be via the turbo oil lines or past the piston rings.

Why dont you try the compression test at least is a breakdown test is not available locally. My rings had gone recently and I was getting less compression when warm than cold. All were down to 130psi and 110psi.

One way valve from the PCV has been checked?

If you'd come to Lloyd's, I could bring along a new one that I've got as a spare.

I'd be taking it back to who did the engine work asking for these checks to be done

Mm, just mapped Avantus car and there was no problem with fuelling with identical injectors MAF and fuelling.
Plus it boosted 1.7 on the base map that Sonic has... and AFR was 11.9 with that boost.

99% sure it is a hardware problem, but I do not have anything at all here to diagnose it

                      Because:
                      1. I do not have any tools / lift / place to do this at, and I am not doing that in 4C weather outside.
                      2. I do not have time for it, I only had 1.5 days, slept 3 hours each night and am back to Estonia now.

Also, it is not really my objective to go to the UK to fix cars (even though it ends up being like that most of the time).

If I lived in the UK next door to him, obviously I would take a look, but not like this.

Dmitri i wasn't asking you or anybody else to do a full shake-down on the car and fix everything for me - don't worry about it, i will get it sorted one way or another, or i'll just sell the ****ing thing.

My current things to look into are the turbo, whether or not it's leaking excessively and operating correctly, and the timing, specifically with the RS2 exhaust cam now being in the picture.

I'm pretty certain the dv, wgfv, inlet and sensors are all working and running as expected, although i didn't test the IC for leaks, i'd have expected to see/hear them.

I've run out of things i can do on my driveway with a couple of sockets, spanners, screwdrivers and my limited knowledge, so i'm going to take it back to the mechanic that's worked on it up till now to see what can be diagnosed.

I've resigned myself to the fact the car isn't going to be running right in 2011.

That's the plan - just to add that the mechanic who has done all the work on the car has been in touch almost every single day with ideas and things to try, and helping me work out how to try and test things with my limited knowledge, experience and tools.

Given that i'm pretty damn far from him now down south, we've obviously wanted to avoid having to take the car back up to him... but i think this is somewhat inevitable now.

How did you do a leak test and not test the intercooler?

It was pressurised - but i didn't spray it down with soapy water or specifically put my ear up to it to see if there was a leak in the core, but as i say, you'd expect to notice something like that.
