  • Fit stock N75...
Also fit 710N dump valve and get rid of the forge.
I just removed two forge valves from my RS4 and replaced them with 710N's.

And yes, dump valve is fitted correctly in the picture, but I am worried about the vacuum hose going to it.

    • I have run a 710N for the last few weeks, i had the forge pressure tested yesterday at MRC and it was fine, so have put it back in.

I managed to snap my stock N75 when i took it out though, so don't have a spare.

Does anybody have one they can lend me to try out?

The vacuum hose is on so tight i can barely got it off, but i will get a cable tie around it to be certain.

      • If you managed to snap it, then it was probably old and brittle...

Btw, I need to send you a chip with logging enabled and you need to start making logs with ZT2+Vag-com cable.
That way we'll see remotely what's going on

Also, have you measured your fuel pressure?

        • Yeah it was a couple of years ago i replaced it because i suspected it wasn't working correctly anyway, i shall get another though to test the one i do have.

I have a serial/usb connection directly out of the zt2, i haven't hooked it up to my laptop or installed the software yet, i've just been using the LCD screen. I have egt, wb o2 and pressure hooked into it in a self-contained system, i haven't hooked anything else like tps or rpm into it as i didn't want to splice into the stock loom without knowing what i was doing. Also it is not emulating nb o2 to the ecu, i've left the stock lambda in there.

But yes, by all means send me something to hook into it and i'll link up zt2, vagcom or whatever we need to log some data.

Not measured fuel pressure, how would i do that? I intend to try another fpr if that's what you're thinking?

          • You could try another FPR, yes.

You need to get ZT working with Winlog first, after that also Motronic. You'll log with two cables at the same time.

            • Shame there isn't an obd port inside the car to make logging easier lol, will have to run the cable through the window!

No one stops you from wiring up a 2x2 adapter and running it into the cabin.

                  • Nice, cheers Jamo.

I like the idea of hooking up to the rings in the fusebox, but then you have to go through the hassle of getting the wires back into the car behind the dash... not confident enough to splice into the ECU wires though!

                    • In this pic the Forge is in the wrong way:

The pressure has to push the piston up with the help of the underpressureline. In the pic, the pressure line is attached to the side of the Valve. This is wrong.

In stock form yes, but at higher pressures this can push the valve open, as the vacuum hose does not flow enough.

                        • I don't think it can work correctly when it's attached the wrong way.

There is only really a right and wrong way for the stock valve, on aftermarket you can run them in reverse to stop the increased boost pressure pressing open the piston and also some cars seem to run better with them in reverse.

A stiffer spring would also help in some case.

i'm not a fan of forge valves, they suffer from air leaks quite a lot especially the ones which are screwed together.

                            • Having tried them both ways around, the orientation of the valve in the picture works better. I remember speaking to Forge some time ago about this and I seem to remember that it doesn't really matter but you do get some odd behaviour with it the other way around (sir buff's way).

I removed a DV like this from nip's car, as it was leaking from tha casing and the first one I had leaked too, but this will show on a leak test. What won't show and I assume what prj is referring to on a few posts, is whether the DV is sealing against pressure or not, as this is not tested under a normal full system pressure test.

                              • Souds like Andy needs to remove his DV and give oral pressure to the piston shaft then... might want to ask his missus for tips

Also to say - I think I'm running mine backwards, it holds 2.2bar fine in this configuration although you do get an interesting sound if you lift quickly with peak pressure - dont think its dumping quite quickly enough!
