I know where you are coming from...some machines seem to be doomed and they will consume absolutely all of your money and all of your time...let's not hope that this is the case here!

That is the only right way to do these things IMHO

Yes I have to say my experience of green coupes has not been good, both were nothing but trouble and cost me a fortune. My old V6 CQ threw a timing belt tensioner about 10k miles after changing it. Swapped in a new engine and cleaned the car up to sell it. Then someone keyed both sides. Got it sprayed. sold it to a guy from London, then the heater matrix blew up on him on the way home. Felt sorry for him, he bought the devils car

Good man, I knew you’d do the right thing, so the wedding is deferred for a year to ensure you have a enough cash to sink into this car in the next six months.

Best wishes with the car and the wedding.

Its more the curse of the burton's, unfortunately both have not had much luck with cars.

          Also - wasn't ross's 3b coupe a doomed green 3b?

Hoping for ~430bhp and 600Nm with the k26/27.

Everything in the engine can EASILY do 500hp, and with bigger injectors even up to 550hp (then he would probably need a bigger exhaust).

It's just a question of turbo sizing... So the answer is, as much as the turbo flows, since there are no other limitations up to about 550hp.
                    ^^^ Pretty much!

As you know it is sorely tempting to bolt something with a bit more oomph to the car and touch 500bhp, but i don't want to change EM or remove the airbox.

The conclusion is that bigger turbo's offer more power and torque, and sometimes at similar rpm, but requires massive modifications.

Although knowing Andy's luck, it's better that way.

I am seriously wondering sometimes if it's going to be the first engine I am going to blow up while mapping, because that vehicle is just doomed.
Intentionally over-engineered into oblivion - that has always been the plan

Mainly because i didnt want anything to go bang, and to be reliable... but look how that ended

Still, the car is almost there. Just waiting on Rich for the turbo.

As soon as i get it back up to Will's, the car will be running.

                      Issues with the camgear

                      Hi

Looks like a very nice engine there,

Also i´m wondering since i see that you have the same adjustable camgear as i have, did you experience any issues with the tooth-width being to large on the adjustable gear?

I´m having quite a play down on the crank when i turn the engine forward and then back up a bit, my belt moves inside the geartooths on the new adjustable camgear without turning the cams Either the camgear is machined with the wrong toothwidth or my belt is strange (it´s the standard ABY belt from CP-service). Or is it normal with a bit of play?

                      /Martin

Just waiting for a new turbo to arrive and be fitted due to problems with the other k26/27 which was on the first build.

Unfortunately, although the turbo was new for the first build, it sustained wear after the problems and wasn't able to be repaired sufficiently, and so is added to the long list of parts that were completely ****ed.

I've opted to get it repaired as parts become available, and get a brand new k26/27 hybrid fitted to the car, then all good to go... i've got a ring trip planned for August as well as i feel i deserve some fun with this car
