We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links
Can you not leave it on Facebook, Mod or not, Jamo you are single handedly spooling this forum.
It's just me getting special treatment, because I don't run VEMS and dare to do something different instead of regurgitating the same old stuff over and over again.
I stopped caring about what he says a long time ago. It's only endless talk with zero punctuation and no results whatsoever.
All the statements I have made are based on experience. If injectors have a bad spray pattern the car will run rich end of. Im not arguing it I'm stating it go speak to ASNU they'll say the same.
If lambda control is on and the lambda has gone faulty the same problem will happen again I speak from experience on that statement.
Unless I missread the wastegate has allready been swapped eliminating it as a fault hence ignored by me as a plausible fault.
Stop trying to make out everything is a personal attack against yourself you are not that important. I've offered some advice to a fellow forum member based on 18+yrs of experience which I could've phoned him with but I thought by keeping info public it may help others one day.
However this will be now my last post on this thread. Andy and Ross you got my number if you need any assistance.
This is a great thread on the best forum site out there. We all want Andy's beast to run like we know it can....No disrespect to anyone and this is just a plea from a ordinary novice member - can we keep things civil and we'll all learn a bit more?
Thanks,
JB
P.S. Andy...stick with this one, mate....don't even think about an Aston!

The only time the WBO2 will indicate rich, is if the injector is leaking.
If it has a bad spray pattern and the fuel is not combusting properly, then MORE oxygen will be present in the exhaust and the Lambda sensor will indicate a leaner reading, because it is measuring the amount of *air* not the amount of *unburned fuel*.
So yes, the car will *run* rich, but the WBO2 sensor will *indicate* lean, and andy will see a *lean* reading on his gauge, currently he is seeing a *rich* reading. Do you understand what I am saying now? And that we are not actually contradicting each other? With the previous post I just meant that this can't be the case on Andy's car based on his WBO2 readings.
If lambda control is on and the lambda has gone faulty the same problem will happen again I speak from experience on that statement.
This is something completely different. And Lambdas can go bad both ways. They can get stuck on rich (in that case mixture goes lean) and they can get stuck on lean (in that case mixture goes rich).
Andy's lambda sensor is working perfectly fine though, as his AFR is fine on part-throttle, and under any kind of load the lambda sensor is completely ignored by the ECU.
Unless I missread the wastegate has allready been swapped eliminating it as a fault hence ignored by me as a plausible fault.
I spoke to Andy yesterday and he was pretty sure it could be caused by the wastegate, so I assume it has not been swapped?

I just pointed out, that what you say will be shown differently on his WBO2 gauge, and that a bad spray pattern will show lean on the gauge. BTDT many times.
The only time the mixture will show rich on a WBO2 gauge is when an injector is leaking and one of the cylinders is basically being flooded, but there is still combustion happening.
I know an Oxygen sensor is sometimes a hard concept to grasp, but the easiest way to understand it, is that it only measures oxygen. It could be almost embedded in fuel, but it would still only measure the oxygen content, and if there is lots of it present, it'll show lean.
That's why misfires on idle due to bad injector spray pattern always show up as lean spikes in the WBO2 sensor graph.

There does seem to be a slightly unsavoury tone to some of the posts and exchanges in this thread. Perhaps those that appear to have "beef" with each other could take it offline (or to another virtual medium) and let the thread return back to it's rightful purpose which is to get Andy's car back up and running.
There is an incredible amount of knowledge and experience floating about here, so let's try and maintain an adult approach and work together to fix Andy's car....

The amount of knowledge on this board has surprised and astounded me many a time, i think that is very evident on this thread.
Dmitri clearly has a lot of knowledge, regardless of what you may think of him personally, that cannot be denied, and although he may have misdiagnosed the fault, he was working with VERY limited knowledge and information from myself. The irony of some statements made on this thread has clearly not been lost on me though
He has held his hands up about the r201 fault, and although solving this will make a huge difference to the running of the car, it won't solve the boosting issue and the car will continue to run rich - just not quite as much.
I shall battle on... but i feel like the situation has turned a corner thanks to everybody on here

It was great to have a chat with you the other weekend Will, thank you.
Pending the outcome over the next few days and this coming weekend i shall know far more about the situation.
The R201 will be replaced, i'll have done a compression and leak-down test if required, returned back to stock ABY cams and pulley, tested fuel pressure, and another wastegate.
If the car still isn't running right - i will be in touch

Correct, Vasilis has sent me a spare one to try out, so will be testing that this weekend. There is also a urS4 present which i think has the same WG, if parts are required.

I seem to remember a similar case of a non boosting RS2 on the Norwegian Audi forum. If memory serves, the case then was faulty cam timing after a shop had replaced the timing belt.
