Went to have a look at mine this morning and realised I can't push it forwards, or back for that matter, as I haven't finished the rack swap and the front wheels aren't conected to each other.
I'll get it moving tomorrrow morning so I'll check my timing marks ASAP, sounds like your getting somewhere though.

Andy, did you move the plastic cover under your rotor arm on the dizzy so you can see the timing mark on the haul effect window compared to the mark on the dizzy casing?

Hi Brian
Thanks for dropping in
Yup, I popped the plastic cap off.
This was before I aligned it, so I suspect that was my codes for timing?
When I lined it up on the engine stand, I just inserted it and lined it up, so did not take up the slack
The throttle damper was not set as per Dave's guide, so I set it to just clear with a 5.5mm drill bit. (you could hear the switch "click" when the throttle shut before though).
Other thought, I bought the RS2 turbo, injectors, exhaust manifold and top of a 3" downpipe as a kit.
The injectors are listed as RS2 replicas, green giant, 440cc. What CC are RS2 injectors? I am sure Hoffer said they used Delphi 440s on their RS2 conversions.
If rich could explain idle? Would rich on boost miss? I drives very smoothly the rest of the time, and pulls hard/clean when its not missing.
The missing does sound like weak ignition, pretty sure RS2 injectors are 440cc @ 3.8 bar so the one's your using should be OK. It might be worth checking your injector plugs, mine caused random misfire for some time before they started to throw a code.
I'm sure you'll have it sorted soon.

Just had a quick read of the last few pages of this thread, bed time soon offshore so no time to trawl through all the thread.
You mention you bought an RS2 kit, have you given up going down the volvo 7400 route?
My own is ever so close now to going for an MOT but still running standard turbo, not gathered all the bits for the volvo conversion yet. ( funds being spent on other toys).

Hey Gordon
Nice to hear you are still alive
An complete RS2 kit came up insanely cheap, so I bought it (Now fitted and just MOTd the car this week, trying to get it running right now)
Hope you get yours back on the road soon, be good to meet up. What do you have left to do?
What sort of age and quailty are your leads mate? I know other folks have had problems with 3B's running high boost due to tired old leads or substandard aftermarket items.
I was fortunate in that the previous owner had MRC fit a new coil and dissy (with correct rotor arm) and I've since renewed the leads with OE Beru items as well the plugs, dissy cap and to be on the safe side both knock sensors.
I'm going to be fitting a new set of NGK's BKR7EIX tomorrow as it happens, the copper cored Denso's have been fine but I don't want to take any chances.

I seem to recall I got the leads for £100 from Pete at quattro corner and the knock sensors from a local(ish) Bosch agent/dealer for about £90 for the pair. If the leads are really old they'd be first on my list, it's a pity the only practical way to test them is to replace/substitute.
