Well it's been a good part of a year thinking about how best to design the intake for my application.

I needed something to flow to cope with the head stroker combo at high rpm/boost.

Ideally long runner for midrange torque whilst maintaining top end.

Big enough plenum chamber to not drop boost whilst drag racing, yet small enough to ensure good throttle response for track use.

And of course I had to locate the throttle body in stock location

In the end I decided to use the modular cnc'd trumpet stack supplied by Jeffer and design it around that.

Realising I was not going to get a long enough runner to tune to the second harmonic for my cam profile to optimise midrange I decided to go for the next harmonic in the sequence providing a tuned length that was short enough to fit under the bonnet.

Next the age old big single plenum or dual plenum setup, I decided to go the dual route with a small primary pressure chamber and a larger settling chamber. Deciding to tune the height of the main plenum chamber to act as another harmonic to match that of the length of the intake tract.

This provided other issues because I was using the roof of the plenumb as a harmonic resonator air had to come in from the side which relative to the throttle body position in the s6 meant that airflow was going to enter the main settling chamber in the most turbulent of manners. So the decision was made to use a flow straightener.

After some tedious machining of the fins I got them to sit nice within the radiused groove of the plenum.

A quick mock up in the car showed where the water manifold and bonnet fouling issues were going to be. So the water manifold has since been chopped and rewelded to clear the plenum as it was important to retain the shape and the topside was gently radiused till optimum clearance to the bonnet was achieved. Obviously the back end of the plenum will be replicated to provide a balanced shape.

Then last night we started to seam weld all the plenum components together getting ready for blending were required before the top and end plates go on.

That's it for the moment held together with some temporary bits before the top plate goes in

I'm leaving it upto Will to sort but the suggestion is to run RS6 8pots with 350-360 discs upfront and the stock rear callipers bracketed to take 330's on the back.
    Nice!!
That's what I've got only with Porsche 4pots at the rear..
    Awesome setup!

    Yeah,nice front brake decision

    Who'll map your car JP?

When you were at vrs, please make and send me a picture of my evo

Been a bit all over the place the last couple of weeks. As some may have put two and two together some of the thin plastic brackets on the sunroof mechanism had failed by snapping after the mechanism jammed. Fortunately with the help of a very kind forum member (you know who you are ). I've managed to get it all fixed and working again.

So now there is a couple of little things left to do for completion and Ultimate Dubs looks like a feasible deadline.

Front and Rear brake upgrade which will be sorted courtesy of Will @ VRS Northampton

Some carbon trim bits to finish of the bodywork (I've been promised imminently on these)

Intake manifold - Started all the necessary fabrication needed for the intake of which I'll be posting some pics up soon of the process. All being well this should all be complete by end of play Feb ready for sorting some mapping out.
