        • I wouldn't get it painted the moment you do so sod's law dictates some batty old bird will scrape up the side of it...

That's is an impressive dyno result, I'd be well chuffed.

          • Also watching progress with your Maxx ECU as that's the management system I'm going for on my B3 Saloon project, to what extent is it 'plug and play' I sold my 3B engine loom to help another member who had suffered an engine bay fire. I'm not that daunted by the prospect of putting together a fresh loom, I have box's and box's of OEM connectors, an ECU connector and plenty of nice fresh wire's with a wealth of different colour codes... And most importantly time.

Also I have all the parts to do away with coil-overs as I'm fitting them to my B3 Saloon, the only thing being the front struts are the smaller diameter, I ran them on my 3B to save a tiny bit of weight and found they worked just fine with decent quality dampers, I used Bilstien B4's so nothing that exotic and I have a pair of NOS unused Boge struts. Got plenty of decent top mounts and upper spring plates, unfortunately I sold my stock springs ages ago. Anyone who's been a Scotland run with me will attest to the fact my car went around corners just fine and that was fully load with my mobile workshop and spares.

After extensive testing and mucking about I found the best suspension set up for fast road use to be stock springs and dampers, poly bush everything, RS2 front ARB and White Line ARB set firm. That and getting the car set up with as much negative camber as the tolerances allow, as much castor on the front as you can get, the toe angles set to factory and matched side to side not just close enough to make the machine happy.

Worth keeping an eye out for a decent ABY loom, you’ll want to run 5 coils anyway.
I did the pin swap on my 3B loom and added the extra wires.
Wouldn’t be too hard to make a loom though I guess, time being the biggest factor

              • The car definitely needs an alignment check!

                • Decent Alignment is critical with these cars! The tolerances are so wide, especially on camber, that you could end up with one front wheel set at 0.00 and the other on one degree negative and the machine will say it's okay. I set mine up by first loosening the strut to bearing housing bolts and putting a jack under the brake disc to get as much negative there as possible, a bonus of this is one can take it apart and put it back exactly where it was before. I've also found his allows one to get more castor on the front ball joints, which you want as much as you can get even if the machine goes into the red. Set the front struts to 1.2 degree's negative each side, more if you want. Same procedure on the back but aim for even more negative camber, I had mine close to 2 degree's each side.

I found the toe out wants to as close to factory max as pos and the same each side.

Finding a decent place to do the job is half the battle!

I'm ripping the stock suspension off my B3 80 this week as I have custom coil-overs with a wide range of springs to choose from ready to go on, my car is going to be a straight line machine so eliminating the rear end squatting is my main goal. If your interested in the stock set up drop me a PM and I'll do you a Xmas deal on all the stuff I have.

I'm being lazy....Does Maxx ECU require a MAF?
