did you lubricate cam seal inner side when putting it on a cam? If it's dry, could be damage when pushed.

Yes there was a smear of grease to slip it on. And there was a small wear mark in the end of the cam but it was not stepped enough to feel it.Comment

Behind the oil seal is a small hole to let the oil go back on the head...either the hole is blocked or the camshaft cap wich keeps the oil seal in place dosint had a small amount of silicone before fitting...small amount off oil can pass throw there also..I have a question in regards to my camshaft seal leak.
As we replaced it and used some silicone in the outer section of it, but i still have what seems like a leak from that location, i was wondering if:
1) Could it be that the cam cover is getting pressurised for some reason and hence the amount of oil going through the little hole is higher, esp. now that with the silicone sealant around the rubber gasket, its all dry from all directions? (funnily enough, after wipping it and going for a boost run, it was dry, then as i drove it today without boost, it came back (the oil residue), so ill be checking the check valve tomorrow hopefully. I have a replacement as well.(although my tanks now should always be through to the turbo vaccum side anyway)
2) If the above is wrong, could it be that the camshaft has a deepened ring that is worn at the point that the gaskets sits, and everytime the gasket is situated were it should, it just keeps leaking from the inner ring rather than the outer that we sealed with silicone?
Hope this helps!
Regards!
BTW...with engine running...open the filler cap...iff there is pressure you will see...but i doubt.Comment

Hi
i thought that the hole was there for the oil to pass through and lubricate the seal.
we used silicone on the second fitting of the camshaft seal, which makes me puzzled why the whole thing still leaks!!
By the way Pirvu, i wanted to let you know that the power steering pump is now changed to a single vane as the previous one with the modification was leaking unfortunately. I have found a second pump which ill send for inspection and keep as a spare as the one we have put in now may also be problematic, making noises now, but not definite.
I doubt that my camcover is pressurising, as a little spread of silicone wouldnt be enough to keep it from leaking. All PCV and tank hoses are large and free and should be fine.Comment

no, mine is a rubber hose made by 034 when i had the lines done for my garrett. BUT still a cheap quality one. I would have thought after all the money the lines cost, how much of a problem would it have been to fit a damn samco piece of 10cm? its rediculus...Comment
