    Ahhhrggg rats...

Looks like the camshaft seal is still leaking + some coolant decided to see its way to the ground as well. Likely the turbo side though. I'll have to investigate...

Why are these things so difficult to fix?? Getting a bit annoyed now.....

I tightened the water return pipe again. I must say I'm not at all impressed with the low quality hose attached there by 034. I'm thinking of replacing that with a samco hose, small piece and be done with it.

I also noticed a small coolant residue on one of the caps at the side of the block next to the water return so I'm probably getting under the car with a bit of silicone sealant or jb weld to make sure it seals.

I'm not really worried about the camshaft seal as it may stop on its own ( wishful thinking? ) but for now it is negligible.

                to this...

                then result..

does anyone remember the width of the hose required on the water return pipe on the I5 by the way?

just to see if i have a samco hose to stick there at some point...

I would suggest to replace those blue Samco's to a color that better matches your new gold color parts.

it would have been nice, but in order to replace every blue samco now it would take more than 300GBP now!

so, ill leave it for the future!

After seeing your Lavamat at the weekend I was going to get some of this:-

                          http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2608485308...84.m1423.l2649

But I can't decide if it looks a bit bling?? I was going to do the same as the pic on the ad and wrap the intake pipe.

i have seen that before, and looks much more silky than the lava mat.

If you have a shield on there to separate the EM, i would put some lava mat on that rather than do the metal pipe.

If you decide on the doing the pipe, then get the lava mat and cover it at its length rather than like a wrap. I get the impression that the glue might start to leak out if you wrap it around like that.

I have a question in regards to my camshaft seal leak.

As we replaced it and used some silicone in the outer section of it, but i still have what seems like a leak from that location, i was wondering if:

                              1) Could it be that the cam cover is getting pressurised for some reason and hence the amount of oil going through the little hole is higher, esp. now that with the silicone sealant around the rubber gasket, its all dry from all directions? (funnily enough, after wipping it and going for a boost run, it was dry, then as i drove it today without boost, it came back (the oil residue), so ill be checking the check valve tomorrow hopefully. I have a replacement as well.(although my tanks now should always be through to the turbo vaccum side anyway)

                              2) If the above is wrong, could it be that the camshaft has a deepened ring that is worn at the point that the gaskets sits, and everytime the gasket is situated were it should, it just keeps leaking from the inner ring rather than the outer that we sealed with silicone?

                                Update:

I just checked the one way valve and spring is intact, working nicely. I also checked the metal hose for blockages, as the PCV valve is out of the picture now, and everything was ok. A bit of sludge but nothing more.

I checked the exit of my cyclone to the 2nd catch tank and it is completely dry, so i can assume that if the cyclone was clogged for any reason, i would have found oil residue in that as well. Therefore that is working ok.

Finally i checked the drain of the cyclone to the tank and there is oil residue there as normal as well as the check valve there hadnt accumulated any oil, so therefore oil should have all drained to the sump as normal.

With all that, i can say that my camcover shouldnt be pressurising for any reason, and therefore its just the damn camshaft seal acting up for the second time.

                                Am i thinking wrong?
