    Hi Rich,

The engine might be available, I know Aidan mentioned that he someone who might be interested in it but I don't know here and now how far that conversation went.

I will ask him on Tuesday and let you know, if they aren't I'll let you have first refusal when I work out a price etc. it's done 86k by the way

      Nice one

Millage and condition in general is not important. My Mk1 is a very (7 years now ) long term project and i will rebuild the engine anyway.

      Just let me know.

      Cheers

see, this is what happens when you don't have anything to do... you spend money you shouldn't on things you see on fleabay...

            Just bought this:
            http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=350495362501

Always liked the KAMEI sport kitted cars, I wouldn't ordinarily have bought any kind of kit but as this doesn't have the recess for the front fogs there is no way I could let it go by, been looking for one for ages.

Collected the bumper this morning and dropped it off to Bahnstorm - the plan is to bond it to the existing bumper, but cut away the centre of the retaining bumper so that the UR intercooler can be fitted right at the front air-dam position.

Then, the plan is to run an adapted Carbon Airbox (which I picked up from VRS today) with a direct cold air feed from the right fog recess - because I dont have fogs I dont car about retrofitting them.

obviously the intercooler will be hidden behind a black mesh so as to keep that sleeper look :mischeif:

So, engine... its in the vehicle now, Aidan has got all the bits to make custom engine mounts from scratch and was planning on doing that today. After the engine is fully fitted into place he can start plumbing in the ECU and adapted loom. He also has to work out how to integrate the old hydraulic power steering (with more pipes) with the newer servo'd power steering from the 1.8T engine's PAS pump.

Getting gasses out of the car is going to be through a custom exhaust system. Aiden has sourced an S2 downpipe and a downpipe back, catless 2.5" supersprint exhaust that ends in twin tailpipes. As you can guess, he is going to be cutting and welding quite a bit!

With a view to getting more power overall out the engine, Phase 1 of the build will be getting the engine up and running in stock tune, but prepped for future - hence the intercooler, cold air feed and exhaust, which I will explain in a sec. Phase 2 will be getting this setup remapped after a couple of weeks for a small bump in power, fitting the G60's and upgraded discs and pads, and tackling all the bushes/top mounts, resprayed roof, bonnet, colour coding of wing mirrors and rear plate surround.

Finally, Phase 3 will be either a K04-15 or more likely, a GT28RS turbo upgrade, ecu work and then some custom interior tweaks to round it all out.

Looking really good, always liked that bumper too. If he gets the power steering pumps side by side, bits from both can be used to make a hybrid pump that fits and also has the 3 pipe connections. This is what I did. Its quite easy when you get them side by side.

I also got rid of the viscus fan and stuck with the 2 electric fans on the radiator. I have used a "FUNK" switch as a fan switch for extra cooling.

Keep up the good work and posting pics

what sort of power can a stock engine take and what power will the gt turbo give?

I have seen US dyno plots for 350bhp with a GT28RS Eliminator kit but the consensus for reliability is up to 280bhp on a K04-15 or 300bhp on the GT28 on stock internals with higher flow injectors, which we will have :-)

Fast Project? Aidan builds fast cars FAST! Lol

Oh, and I think the stock K03 will produce 190 mapped as is, but we should get more with the remap because of the intercooler, zorst and cold feed

I think the best bet is to drop him an email or call for a quote on something, I don't think it's fair for me to discuss it as its not an off-the-shelf kinda project, I had to buy parts, donor car and bits so it all depends on what and how much you can do.

Besides, after mine he might not want to do another LOL
