            Regards the 450Nm = 200Nm + 180 degrees.

            Regards the 450Nm = 200Nm + 180 degrees.
I've just done the belt, pump and idler on my 7A engined coupe.........and here's a picture I've taken of the pulley.

I marked the head of the bolt and then torqued it to 100Nm, then marked the pulley.
I then torqued it to 200Nm......and marked the pulley.(The torque wrench used was calibrated about 3 months ago.)
Observing the difference between the 2 marks I then marked the pulley with another 2 paint "dabs".....to give an idea of 300Nm and 400Nm.
It was at this point that I thought 180 deg from the 200Nm mark might be about 1000Nm?!
.....anyway using a 3/4 drive socket,t-bar and small length of scaffold tube, I "nipped" it up a bit and the pic above shows where it finished up. To me it felt f***ing tight.
Incidentally when I slackened the bolt at the start I used a 1/2 inch bar and it broke free 1st try, it had thread-lock on it and hadn't been touched since the belt was fitted 5 years(15k miles) ago. I have the receipt from the garage that done the job-the original bolt was re-used.
Now, I'm thinking maybe the pitch of the thread on the bolt is different from that of the S2 engine??........but I understand that the crank is the same??(yes/no)......so surely the pulley and bolt are the same?

            .......anyone?

200 + 180degrees is more accurate then 450 Nm. Then last 250 Nm can vary alot depending on friction etc. in the bolt thread, where as 180degrees will always be the same.

Nothing major, I was just thinking about the torque comment, and Jonas's comment on friction.
New bolt vs old bolt surface ,rust and no rust etc.

But yea I would always use a new one
