      Well done!

I'm also building a TDI stroker with an EFR. Interested to see your results

Pretty standard build really... 2.5L stroker (92.8mm crank) with forged internals, coated bearings, ARP studs, and an EFR7163 (v-band in/out, .85 a/r, external WG) to go with 1000cc GenesisII injectors and Vems.

Haven't received it yet from the builder but initial testing with the turbo shows it ought to be on full boost around mid-3k rpm range, and go eagerly to redline. Wherever I set that, haha, probably somewhere in the 7.5k to 8k range. He says it's nearly a direct comparison to a GTX3071r, but with better transient response between shifts and the EFR makes a bit more overall power.

When everything gets delivered I'll offer more details.

Oh that's going to be interesting. The 7163 is the slightly bigger version of what I have so should be 500 plus bsp on yours.

What cams and manifolds are you going to run. I'm hoping full spool by 3k but I have a 95.5mm crank so more displacement and stock ish manifolds and cams. Ported head though...

I'm also working with a ported head. 7A cams.

                Manifolds are IrozMS.

Preliminary test data follows. Post #2644 and down:

The mixed flow turbine on the 7163 is interesting. Seems to make big power numbers with good spool.

I will be happy with sub 500bhp and fast spool and loads a torque. At least I hope the 5 mm smaller turbine and 4 mm smaller compressor on efr 6758 will give better response.

If it's too laggy I could swap back to my gtx2867r but I think the efr should be better matched wheel size .

I played with BorgWarner's MatchBot for about a month or so before choosing the 7163. It seemed best suited to my motor and altitude.
                    LINK: MatchBot

                    I highly doubt you'll find 6758 laggy.

Are you going to rum w/m injection?

Matchbot is cool. I played with it too and hope it's accurate in terms of its results. It shows 14 psi boost just before 2500rpm, so of it does that i will be over the moon.

It's a daily driver so i plan on no drugs like water meth injection. I do run on lpg propane though so ping isn't a issue though i sometimes run on normal petrol so need to stay kinda safe.

I lowered the engine 11mm and I got the downpipe well under way last night. Ran out of mig gas and time but it's coming on ok. Just need to fit lambda sensor bungs and pressure port. Then tidy and finish some of the welds.

The mig with stainless wire is fast but I prefer the stainless rods and the arc mma welder if I'm honest. Might do the lambda bungs with it to compare. I'm not after a super tidy weld just a strong functional joint.

I'm going to hold off on the w/m injection until I'm happy with my tune and mechanical reliability. After that though... why not!?!?!?!!!

                          Easy/cheap +50whp, yes please!

I wonder were you can easily get meth in the UK?

So I got the down pipe finished and fitted complete with the 2 wide band lambda sensors and a 1/4 bsp port to measure post turbine egt or exhaust back pressure. The efr already has a port on the turbine inlet for the same.

I then filled the engine with oil and turned it over by hand untill I had oil coming out the oil cooler ports.

Next to do is to connect up oil pipes and wires to everything. I will run the engine without the radiator for the first start just to prove everything sounds ok. Then fit the front stuff like rads intercooler and lights and bumper etc. I won't get back to it tonight as

                            A I don't want divorced
B I won't be home to about 9 after work.

Still reckon I should be able to attempt a start this weekend.....

Check the MSDS (or comparable safety data sheets) but most -40°C washer fluid without detergent is a 50:50 mix of distilled water and methyl hydrate.

Or I'd wager anywhere that sells race gas would have you covered.

That matchbot is very cool - reminds me of my old "Turbology" spreadsheet, but this is on another level of detail. Need some hours cramming to make full sense of that.
