Ive run the GTX3071r in my ABY and wasn't happy with it at all (.82 A/R). I'm sure it would make great power but lag was unacceptable. Coupled with a wagner evo exhaust manifold I wasn't making full boost until way past 4krpm. Iv had mine modified by Craig at TDI turbos. The anti-surge housing has been replaced with a modified stock 50AR compressor cover and 7 blade billet compressor wheel. Its now transformed the power delivery.

Moral of the story, bigger isn't always better.

The HX35 Super in the KKD link is watercooled.

BB turbos are fine. All turbos are fine so long as you run them in spec and as meant to. The majority of the world runs BB turbos and I wouldn't take a step back going to journal bearing just because a few loud voices said they had a problem with a BB turbo. So long as it's a reputable company it's fine.

Not a fan of BB turbos after reading about plenty of problems with them over the years (not run one myself) - if reliability isn't a concern then you're laughing or just run multiple filters before the pressure restrictor. I'd go journal bearing and accept a little more lag for some improved reliability. That said, I found that the Holset was oil cooled only, so I'd want to address that...

Perhaps a billet wheel on a Holset is along the right lines...

Im thinking gtx3076r is the safe option to achieve what im after!

Anywhere in thr region of 500bhp and good spool and im happy. Car should only weigh max 1000kg so peak power output is not a massive issue

If you want to make good boost in the 3k rpm range and make 500hp you can't afford a cheap turbo.

EFR7670 or EFR7163 or HTA3076 (but it won't spool as fast, have as good transient response between shifts or make as much power in the top end).

The gt3082 is an older turbo I think. The gt35 is the one that makes up to 600 hp. The 3082 must be a mixture of gt30 and hot side of the gt35. May not even be ball bearing.
