Fit a V8 and forget the turbo if you want a torque monster.

Also well worth stating to try narrow down best turbo choice. This car will see the race track only. So good response is needed but maybe im worrying to much about lag as the car will always be in the higher rev range. I dont want to go mad spec with the engine so revs limites to 7500. If turbo is on max boost by 4krpm it just means I have 3500rpm power band. Obviously if I built engine for 8500rpm etc then turbo size wouldnt matter so much.

But I do want a turbo that will pull hard to the red line without dropping off. Would the holset hx35 super drop off slightly due to smaller 8cm housing.

Would an hx35 with 12cm maybe hold boost better at top of rev range?

    That is fact.
Possibly the only fact so far in this thread

Looks like full torque by 3500rpm. Is that on twin scroll manifold?

As mentioned spec of engine etc with that turbo setup.

    Thanks

Here is also a HX40S boost graph:

Quite well hidden link especially when looking with tapatalk.

What is the rest of the spec on the car with the HX35 super?

Post that graph. It helps discussion

The holsets are twin scroll yes? So to work efficiently they need twin scroll manifold which can be pricey or time consuming to make?

That's not full boost. That's max torque. Boost would have come in sooner

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is with the 0.82ar or higher. The gtx3076 would not be that late. Then again this is the torque people are looking at and if you see at 4000rpm this engine makes 225hp while on the previous holset graph at 4000rpm you only had 175 hp give or take. So the difference is actually big in the early revs.

This is why I would only try the combination of a gtx3576 on a 0.63ar for a comfortable above 500 hp car with hopefully not later than 4000rpm lag.

What sort of power/response would I get from hx35 with 12cm housing?

The hy35 I linked in earlier post has 10cm housing. And claims even on a 2 ltr 4 pot full boost by 3700rpm and holds to redline of 7500. That gives same 500bhp+ output but with near 1000rpm bigger powerband than gtx3076r with added bonus its 500 quid new and should be more reliable!

    Starting to lean toward holset
You can find a example from my earlier post. If I remember right it was a 35 "Super" with #8 housing and water/meth injection, porting and other goodies, but you get the idea what this turbo is capable of.

    You can't compare two cars.
