Saw some dynos with quick spool valve - https://www.facebook.com/IrozMotorsp...type=1&theater - i did not see to many test in europe ? this was with EFR8374 turbo which is quite big 700+ hp turbo. It would be great to have 550hp and great spool :-)

around 100,000kms.if you searched on the youtube you'll be found a lot of BB turbo having bearing noise after
shut down the engine.i did have the same thing.recently i rebuilt my GT turbo with the new bearing kits and piston rings.
but it seems the BB turbo ain't easy to rebuild it right.it required a lot of special tools to pull it apart,VSR balanced machine.
the clearance on every parts must be precisely.i ended up sending it forth and back to the shop for a couple times.
that's PITA. my bearings on the turbine is worn as well.
That's what Owen have done once they upgraded my 3076 to HTA

The compressor wheel of the TTRS chargers can be fit to the stock S2 charger.
Then you have a charger that is able to do up to 320hp with the fast throttle response and early boost of the stock turbo; by additionally changing the turbine wheel (stock housing can be used afaik, but must be machined a bit) you can go up to 350-360hp with nearly the same behaviour. Very, very good turbos :-)

But the TTRS turbo is far away from being capable to do 500hp.

I have been using the HTA3076R as it's my turbo since 2012. I had my original 3076 upgraded by Owen developments who also offered to improve some of the cartridge internals for me.

Even though at the time all I wanted was the compressor wheel installation, compressor housing and a balance they did a health check and said the turbo needed some internal changes/ renewal so I don't know if they actually charged me for a whole center section which they probably did which is why I paid for the package around 950£

However on a ported head and 0.63ar I get to touch the 500hp crank and what's most important for me is the fact that the car is alive from well within the 300 rpm on 4th gear 3800 on 3d gear and 3200 even on 5th and 6th gears

It's expensive of course not the cheapest option you can get

What did you mean when you put the Bullseye S256 after the EFR? They aren't the same turbos at all. Did you perhaps mean the performance is similar?
I'm sorry I should have said BW, not EFR.
Packaging difficulties apply to both BW, and especially EFR.

If a turbo have full boost over 4500 rpm I think that will be a car for straight line . Can have 650 hp and be beat by a 200 hp car in traffic, and with this I don't encourage the traffic racing

It is not good, a lot of lag for the HP it makes. Capable of about 550hp, but spoolup is at 4400 rpm, making it much too laggy for my taste. The HX40 has a much thicker and heavier (stronger) shaft, but this also hurts spool time.

If you want more power, it is better to go HX40 Super, but then full boost is like a GT3582R, but it makes more power than a GT3582R. So about 4600 rpm, and 650+ capable.

Really, driving side by side two cars with HX35S and GT30R, there is virtually no difference. The HX35S has better initial spoolup, the GT30R has a fraction faster re-spool on gearchange.
But the HX35S costs less and is MUCH more reliable…

I have a friend here locally with a S4 that has a HTA3076R, that is a better turbo all around than the HX35S, except for reliability (have had to rebuild it already ), but it was also DOUBLE the price.

    P.S.
I do not have a hidden agenda in this. I do not sell Holset or Garrett turbos. I just tune a wide variety of cars and report what my findings are. If a customer comes to me and asks for the ultimate 500hp setup, I will pick a HX35S each and every time.
The EFR turbos are quite nice also (Bullseye S256), but the packaging is a bit difficult, and I find the HX35S works better than the S256 also. Masterpower - we have one in the shop right now, it's going on a VR6 turbo. Dirt cheap. Looks like quite solidly built, but have not run it yet.

i believe the tuning guy said to me he converted whp to engine hp by adding 17% on whp
the dyno is almost new and told me that the measurement is very accurate

A little offtopic... Not a 500hp turbo, but has anyone used a Holset HX30? The idea is to use it as a RS2 turbo substitute in a T3 form.

It seems that the holset hx35 super has the same performances like a garrett gt3076r or gtx3076 , but garretts are more expensive.

Some people had complaints regard the response of the Holsets, but like Prj said, maybe due of wrong dimension of the hot side.

Can anybody provide us a dyno graphic with a Holset Hx 35/40 super ?
