    Resetting clears the adaptation.

That indicates that the car is ok but the ecu is sensing something wrongly and adapting into a lean condition.

Looks like I'm in my own on this as its none of the easier stuff. If the MAF doesn't cure it I think I'll either get rid or live with it.

I might have missed it but what was the result of pulling the fuel pump and inspecting the tank for debris that could be clogging the inlet of the fuel pump?

And did you notice that prj's cure for similar issues was a new fuel pump?

It would not be the cause of the load reading being nowhere near what it should be. Nor would it explain why resetting the ecu makes the car good until it adapts again.
If you read through the thread you'll also read he had a significant air leak.

This is why it is so frustrating trying to help you. Everytime a good suggestion is made, e.g. fuel pump clogging, you have a reason as to why that suggestion just won't work, and therefore, you don't bother to physically check it out.

But yet you don't know what the issue really is, just why our suggestions aren't the answer.

I understand now why prj is avoiding helping you, even for cash. No amount of money could compensate him for mental hurt.

Can't wait to find out that even a new MAF doesn't help.

Really? What a nice guy you are Dave, a real credit to the forum, literally admitting there in your last that members don't get things sorted. I just hope the moderators see this.

And from all the suggestions, the basket to the pump is the ONLY one I've not checked.

Having read that other thread it points to the breather system leaking. He also had an high idle (which you appear to have) and inconsistant readings on afr until it was stablized by fixing whatever was at fault.
Well thats how I have read it!

I agree but it was just this morning that I drove the car with the breather hose to the MAF hose plugged in the MAF hose side to eliminate the breathers. I had simultaneously don't the same with the DV

See what? That I am vocal about the frustrations trying to help you? Wow. Yup, I agree, the moderators should ban me from further participation in this thread.

Sarcastic when appropriate. Awful, maybe, but only if totally frustrated.

Regardless, better than a needy time waster.

(all this time you're on the keyboard tonight, you could have pulled that fuel pump)

It is a bit spooky that the two threads are somewhat similiar!
