I have got the thing airtight now. I am glad I went to the bother of getting some 12mm thick plates made up to seal the manifold - lots of holes!

I got it sealed and took it to 5 bar when one weld broke - I wanted to see how strong my welds were - now I know.

Just now it holds 3 bar boost and drops to 2 bar in about a minute. I will dip it in a bucket of water to see where it is leaking but seems pretty good now - needs a clean up and a paint.

And here is a trial fit of the inlet on the car.

It will fit without moving the radiator.

The power steering pump will not fit - I think I'll move that to the other side where the air-con was.

The water manifold has had the inlet chopped off and turned round so it will fit.

could try the MR2 PAS pump, seen a site somewhere with an audi using an electric pump.

I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got quattro?

I still have the problem of finding somewhere for an electric pump to fit - and I will need new pressure lines for that. So instead of buying another pump I will just relocate it.

What are the benefits of an electric pump?

I don't tihnk mine will fit in the orignal position even if it was moved around there - just because the throttle body is in the way as well. I need to see how close Marks is with the AAN PS mount.

Damn close IIRC mate. Dont know if the US car has the high pressure servo system as used on the S2??? I suspect not. The original pump operates at a very very high pressure. Cant remember now. But an electric pump will take the load off the engine too, giving you more power.

My suspisions were right, it has a conventional servo system.

You would have to change the braking system aswell to get this to work

Vacuum power brakes in a turbo car works just fine. The whole hydraulic stuff is totally unnecessary.

And the pressure, it's told to be 100bar, but without measuring we really don't know. This is because the pump is a tandem one, so there probably is also 2 different pressures, more or less.

Yeah of course they work fine, just wondered what the installation of a vacuum servo would be like on a RHD car. Less space the LHD.
