Clutch slipping

One new clutch installed and NOT slipping. Result!
In the end i have a standard clutch, with a modified cover plate to give increased clamping pressure! It was the best they could do as Mr. Helix just couldn't supply in time. Will know for next time to order in advance.

Let this be a warning to you all! If its needed, ORDER IT UP. It could take upto a week to produce the goods.

Tom, have you got details of the uprated pressure plate you mention in the previous post? I thought I was getting one but now I've been told I've a stock clutch in there as there was no uprated one available, like you I didn't want a paddle job. So now I'm stuck with the stocker.

This external wastegate pipe mod sounds very interesting. If any of you have pictures & more info on this I would really appreciate it.
Do I understand correctly that this mod will release boost pressure to the atmosphere?
If so, won't it affect the mixture (richness on throttle release?)
How does the sound compare to a ricers blow off valve?

John, the cover plate was made for me by a local firm. PM me for details and i will give you there phone number.

And the wastegate pipe....... its nothing like a rice racer valve! it releases the gases from the wastegate to the roadside and not back to the downpipe!

if your still getting Clive to make your exhaust at Prism he'll do it for you, here's the one he did for me. Mind you I'm going back for a small silencer to be put on it soon, bit too fecking noisy when on boost for me :eek2: .

It sounds like open headers, which is what it basically is. It only operates when the engine is on boost and the wastegate opens, not to be confused with a dump valve.

I am hoping that the silencer soon to be fitted will 'sweeten' the sound and make it less raw, should still spit the odd flame or two though .
