normaly you can remove the basket with your hand.. at least i removed the last ones so. if not there is another idea how a tool can look http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/20355.phtml
the manifold is not looking good. i would swap it for a stock s2 or go something like wagner or copie of wagner manifold. if it has so many cracks it is just a question where next it will brake..

rxl, thanks again. Another option for me to try tomorrow. I've tried and failed to twist off by hand.

I was thinking the same for the manifold. Probably will just keep it as a spare.

No. Two were buckled and all needed a refurb. I'm going to keep looking, maybe go for 17" S4 wheels?

Fuel pump job all completed today (thanks to help from forum members). Made a tool as mentioned by rxl above.

Replaced the fuel filter today. Who's idea was it to put it up there?

Anyway, not too bad as I have my tank straps and subframe off the car.
The only issue I had was that the small torx screw holding the filter bracket was seized and just rotated in its plastic housing.
I had to cut it out and have replaced it with a stainless steel bolt.

Fuel lines are corroded and will need replacing. I've just ordered 25ft of 8mm Kunifer pipe to do that job.

2.2c in the garage this afternoon. I must get a heater in there!

Has anyone tried fitting Golf MK4 leather seats in the Avant? I've just found a broken Golf with a very good leather interior. I've measured the front seat rails and they seem identical. The fitting of the rear seat might be more of a challenge. It is a four door.

                    Right. Golf seats.
I bought the Golf, rented a trailer and collected it today.
Everything looked good to go. I took out the drivers seat and offered it up to the rails.
                    Opps! It don't BL**DY fit!
The MK4 Golf has plastic wheels that run in the tracks. The S2 Avant has rectangle plastic bushes, same as the MK3 Golf. The tracks look identical, but the MK4's are slightly deeper by a couple of mm.
I don't want to swap the rails over as they are welded to the car.
It would be possible to cut the bottom off each seat and re weld the S2 bottoms on, but I think this is going to be more hassle than its worth.
Anyone want a nice black leather MK4 golf interior?

Have a look at the subframes, the loop of tubing that gives you the height adjustment.
Is it possible to swap them over?
Alternatively I converted a pair of audi 90 seats to fit my UR by swapping the entire lower frame and using the 90 foam and covering. I even got them to tilt by adding the cable release.

Swapping the frames looks complicated, but I'm going to give it a go.

Had more success fabricating new tank straps.

                              Done in 3mm Aluminium strip.

Could you not just turn down the wheels on the golf seats ?
