Thanks everyone. I will check mine against the pics in the morning. Maybe Autodoc sent me the wrong Febi bush!

I had some fun and games with Autodoc last week. Ordered two caliper overhaul kits for my back brakes. The next day they said the part I had ordered wasn't in stock so had replaced it with an identical quality item. When my order arrived (10 days later) there was only one kit. Because the replacement was twice the price of the original order, they cut the number in half

Turn the top mount bush up the other way, cup at the top, it’ll be fine

I tried them the other way around but the recess for the nut was now underneath. I put the nut on first and then test fitted it on the car. It meant that the thread was now not long enough to get the top cup washer and locking nut on. So, swapped it all back and did a test fit on the car. Fits nice and snug and no noticeable play once fitted. I'm going with this for now. I think my problem here is that these are Febi bushes. The originals are slightly different and do have a colour coded cup facing up. Thanks John for the suggestion. I'm getting originals next time

Thats correct. On the pic in previous page the top mount bushing seems mounted the wrong way.

one other thing - if you don't have the notched tool to engage with the slotted nut, I'd get one. There is nothing worse than not being able to torque that nut up and it working loose after a few miles on the car!

50nm in my book for the Coupe. I'd be surprised is the avant was any different.

Thanks very much. I had some settings in the Audi 80 Haynes manual but wasn’t sure which was for the slotted nut and which was for the top lock nut.

My old torque wrench only has ft/pounds and kgs so I converted it to 37ft/Lbs. I'm glad you reminded me as it was another 1/3 of a turn before it was correct. And I thought I had it pretty tight!
