    • What did you bolt your chassis moving trolleys to?

For the first time in my motoring life to date, I'm about to get some indoor space to keep a classic car. Inevitably I'm already buying tools and thinking about things I might need for restoration purposes even though the car is currently still outside!

One of the things I would like to do is remove engine and everything from the bay and push it outside for cleaning of engine bay, wheel arches, rust repairs, paint etc. I fancy a visit by a mobile grit blaster (it's that vs hours of angle grinder and wire brush) to do the cleaning and for that not to ruin things, I don't want any suspension, driveshafts etc to be on the car.

I was thinking of making a trolley like yours and bolting to where the wish ones did before being removed...

The trolley was made by a friend and was originally for the S2. The uprights have angle brackets that bolt into the subframe captive nut holes. I adapted it slightly to fit the Ur. The front mountings were identical to the S2, just the rear ones needed some angle iron adding and new holes drilling.

        • Nice one. They look made rather than purchased and that's the way it should be in my book.

I don't have subframe holes on this car but thinking about it, the weight of the car sits on the wishbones so their mountings must be up to it for use with a trolley.
Plastic or rubber wheels on your set up?
