Off the dolly and now the work begins.
These tabs had been knocked off during the paint process so I needed to make some new and weld on.
Pretty much blank canvas underneath.

Today my plan was to make up new fuel lines. I pulled the old ones out of storage to use as templates but was surprised that they seemed to be really good. A quick clean of the surface rust confirmed that I could re use them. However, it took absolutely ages to clean them up for painting.
Then two coats of epoxy
It might have been quicker just to make some new ones.

Before fitting the heat shields I filled all the cavities with some good wax. Before I did that I made sure they were all clean. It's amazing how much crud gathers in these. The S2 is the same.
I really like this stuff.
All the grommets got fitted and then I cracked on with the shields. They came out not too bad. The rear section is made from a Jaguar shield I picked up at the breakers for £5!
Some of the fitting screws had rusted out and were completely missing. After checking there was space behind, I replaced the missing ones with small self tapping stainless screws after drilling a 3mm pilot.

Progressing slowly.
Anyone know where I can get these electrical connectors from? I have the plastic coloured plugs, just need the female connectors. They are like a bullet connector.
I made a little bracket to hold the pre filter. I do have the proper filter with the mount on it but it's not clear and I want to see if any crud comes down from the tank. These are also easy to obtain and cheap.
The fuel pipes got two coats of dark green enamel to match the oe pipes. All the pipe clips and rubbers have been cleaned up and are ready to go. Fuel
pump, accumulator and main filter all ready to go. Just waiting for some E10 pipe I ordered on Monday before I can put it all together.

All the fuel pipes are in and everything is fitted up but I'm waiting for some 11mm ID E10 fuel pipe to finish off.
Whilst waiting, I thought I would sort the calipers and carriers.
I broke out the blasting cabinet.
Before
I left the old pistons and seals in to stop any material getting inside.
Then popped them out with the airline.
A quick clean up around the seal housing then a coat of Bilt rust converter.
Then onto the spray booth.
I'm using VHT caliper paint.
I have a pair of new calipers for the back.
