So the handbrake cable springs turned up. Thanks Highland Quattro.


They were fitted which meant I could fit the prop shaft. Plenty of thread lock here. I don't want these coming loose!


Then the heat shields went back. And then the rear and middle box of the exhaust.



After a lot of head scratching, I've concluded that there is no way to get the S2 cats to work. So I'm looking at sports cats and a little welding.
Can anyone recommend a good one?
I will put two in, one each side as per the originals.

This thread is epic Dave, hell you've put some work into this car!

Regarding the Cat's, they're worth a lot as scrap, more than enough to cover the cost of a pair of nice new sports Cat's, though obviously they could be of use to an S2 owner so it seems a pity to weigh them in, however you may get more for them going down that route.

I scrapped the pair off my V6 C4 Avant as one was partly blocked and it was a quick £500. I haven't made my mind up what brand I'm going to replace them with so will be keeping an eye on what you go for. There are some very cheap ones on eBay though I think these are probably best avoided,

I did some searching on the forum and Magnaflow have been recommended previously. My mate has offered to come over with his tig so we are looking good.

I put some coolant system cleaner in.


And four gallons of super unleaded.


Won't be long now until I turn the key for the first time.

Collected the wings from the
Painter. They look very nice.

Fixed the seized rear wiper and ordered some new wiper blades.


Hoovered out the scuttle.
The drain holes were full of rubbish.




I wonder what the blue wire is for? It's been cut into the live on the alternator and disappears into the dash???
