And anyone have a spare rear shock top bush?
Someone has cut through this one at some point. As this is the side that has the newish shock I suspect they couldn't undo the top nut.

All the welding done today.
With a chunk out I was able to reach all the hidden rust and get it clean and treated.
My welding isn't that neat but it's strong. Once painted and seam sealed you won't even know it's there.

Good work Dave. Just been catching up on this. My URS6 is my favourite of the lot. Far better car than the RS2. I was super lucky and saw mine on mobil.de rhd in Spain. Made it cheap and zero rust!!!

A Urs6 is rare in Spain, let alone a rhd one!

That's looking great Dave, fair play I reckon you've probably rescued that car as paying a restoration specialist to do all that work would have cost an absolute fortune! I don't expect your doing it for free, but still I hope the owner appreciates just how much work has gone into this one. Dealing with that sort of corrosion is a horrid, dirty and very time consuming job, still looks like your on the home straight now.

The good thing about using epoxy is that it dries very quickly.
So then the final coat. I like this stuff as it's self healing.
All done.
On to rear driveshafts.
They are very rusty.
And rear shock parts that haven't been powder coated.
They will be painted in epoxy.
Just waiting for a few more parts to arrive then I can make a start on re building. I have a complete set of Verkline bushes coming in street hardness and a few parts from Tradition and Merlin. I also had to order new outer cv joints for the rear as they were knackered. I've got SKF ones coming direct from their website. They were actually cheaper than anyone on eBay!
Now. Calling Urs6 owners. Anyone put a fuel tank back in? It seems very tight and complicated with the filler neck. Any advice would be appreciated.

Ok. Sound advice. I did man up and fitted the tank. In the process I worked out how it was done in the factory.
Fit the tank with the rubber sleeve and tighten the tank side only. Make sure the jubilee clip screw on the filler neck side is facing down.
Now fit the gasket around the filler opening and install the metal ring.
Then carefully pass the filler neck through the filler hole, throughout the chassis leg hole and into the tank whilst rotating anti clockwise. When the screw hole meets up, you have reached base. Now tighten the filler neck jubilee from under the car. It's wasn't so difficult after all.
Before fitting, I obviously replaced the fuel pump and pipes. My length of wood trick wouldn't work in re fitting the basket so I found this method gave the necessary leverage to rotate clockwise to re engage.

Then onto fuel lines. I'm not very impressed with this tool which I bought specifically to flare 8mm pipe (fuel lines). I failed to make a decent flare. Angry. Draper quality isn't what it used to be.
So I will resort to doing what I used to do before I got the tool. Take them to my friend who has a proper tool.
