Just catching up on this thread. Great work as usual. You don't mess about. Having tackled the rusty tank job on one of these I know what a big job alone it is. I sent mine to ReNu to be coated but it cost a lot. Nice to see you managed to save yours.

All the lower rubber/plastic trims look to be in very good condition, have you replaced them Dave or are they the ones fitted when you got the car to work on?

Normally they are swelling by now due to the mild steel strip inside corroding... There's sellers in eastern Europe on eBay offering full replacement sets at very keen prices and a couple of them do look to be OE quality. I'm watching the one I think is the best value as it says there's plenty available but am yet to take the plunge and invest in a set as cosmetics are not a priority at the moment but if it looks like they're going to run out I'm going to grab a set.

No, unfortunately they are mainly very poor and need replacing. I did buy a set of those cheap copies from Alvadi in Estonia but they are very poor quality and also arrived damaged. Alvadi didn't respond to any of my emails so I've submitted a chargeback claim on my credit card. I'm waiting to hear about that.
Your best option in my opinion is to bite the bullet and get a friendly member in Germany to order you the full set from Tradition. They are all available, will fit perfectly and will last another 25 years. The full set of 8 pieces is about £250.

I'd much rather spend £250 on a genuine Audi set than potentially waste £80 odd quid or whatever those knock offs cost now.

The sod's make them sound like they're going to be OE quality and it's impossible to tell from the photo's what they're really like. Sorry to hear your having a load of hassle getting your money back, I'm going to remove them from my watch list.

I've just sold the heads off that 30V for that money and I'm tempted to try and get a set now as AT may well run out of the genuine ones. It's a lot of money but I'm planning on keeping my C4 on the road for as long as I can, I know I'm not driving at the moment but hope to be back on the road safely next year.
