  • I didn’t get a lot done today as my lawn mower died.
But I did fill the gearbox with lovely new oil. This was recommended a few years ago by Mike in Scotland. Lovely chap he was and greatly missed.

      • That’s a nice stash of oil you have there! It’s gone rather expensive.

Every bolt, nut and screw is seized with rust! All the fittings in the wheel arches had to be cut or drilled out.
The tie rods came apart (eventually)

        And got cleaned and painted.

Inside the arches are a little rusty.

So I got busy with the wire wheel. This is my least favourite job.

And after Bilt rust converter, a coat of Bilt zinc.

The top mount brackets also got de rusted and painted.

And another delivery from Merlin arrived. Aroquip hose and fittings for the oil cooler.

            • Using the wire wheel in the arches is a horrid job, even with a mask and decent eye protection you get filthy, good job done though.

              • Thanks guys. It's nice to have some feedback and encouragement. I'm going to need it when I start on the rear. Looks like it's been sitting with the Titanic for a year or two

                    • So, Ford Tractor blue is err, well a little too blue. Guess the shed will be getting a new coat soon.

The adjusters for the tie rods cleaned up ok. The centre 17mm part is a bit mangled. I cleaned it up as best as possible. These are M16 and bigger than on the S2. I couldn't find replacements.

I broke my home made tool for tightening the strut cap. I was trying to undo the caps which were rusted on. Maybe using the impact gun wasn't such a good idea?
The new version is much stronger. It's a ground down tractor wheel nut.

It's not actually mine at the moment. I have offered to buy it. We will see.

                            • Any tips for this push fit FBN pipe? It appears you need to be a gorilla on steroids to actually push fit it.

                              I've tried hot water.
