Yes, had a great trip. Spent two days at the space centre and saw three falcon 9 launches. Very happy.

Anyway, back to the Ur.
I've been waiting a while for two little bushes from Koni. They were missing from my front shocks and had to come from Koni in the Netherlands. The fist set got lost in the post and the second arrived yesterday.
I wasted no time in getting them together.


The propshaft is ready to fit but I wasn't happy with some of the bolts so ordered a new set.

They should come on Tuesday. Again, nothing special. 12.9 grade M8x50 Allen head bolts x12 for about £7 delivered. Special Quattro ones (the same) can be found for £5 each on flea bay!

Has anyone got a spare propshaft bolt washer? One got damaged when I cut a seized bo!t.
803407357 is the part number.
It's the little half moon shaped washer.

So today I set about rebuilding the front driveshafts.
The cv joints got cleaned in the parts washer.


And then taken apart and cleaned.


New grease.


And boots. All back together.




The front caliper carriers also got new grease and boots.



I had an issue with one of the outer cv joint retaining circlips. The ones in the new boot set are different and I wanted to re use the old one but it got bent slightly on reassembly and wouldn't lock. I had to use the one in the kit which looks very different. I just hope it holds.

I sure you have laid in bed thinking about that job you weren't 100% happy with? So yesterday I set about finding a new cv circlip. Couldn't find one anywhere so ended up ordering a new Febi boot kit which comes with the clip.

Whilst waiting for that I moved onto another small job. The front exhaust clamp is missing.


Using some aluminium strip, I made up a new one.


The downpipe got a clean.


Then the steering rods got a strip down and clean. Some heat was required to get the adjuster moving.



They have been reassembled with plenty of copper grease and are ready for some paint.

I didn't get much time on the car today. I did manage to swap the engine mounts for some new old stock ones I came across.


Access is tight even without the subframe in place.


I supported the engine using the transmission jack.


And did one side at a time (just in case).



Also fitted my home made exhaust bracket.

So the boot kit arrived today. Unfortunately, the clip is too small.


Anyone have a decent Ur Quattro outer cv joint circlip going spare?

After one of the wettest winters on record in west wales, things have dried up slightly. Unfortunately that means I have other work to do.


But this afternoon I still got a couple of hours on the Ur.

Prop shaft cv joints got removed, cleaned and new grease.






I would have replaced the boots but couldn't find them anywhere. Luckily, they are still good. The joints feel much smoother now. The old grease was dry and hard.

Today I fitted the propshaft.

The grease fitting got some new grease.


The lift is a big help. I'm normally balancing it on my head. Lol.


The new bolts got thread lock.


And it's up.
