I use 3M double sided trim tape to apply the door trims. There are different widths and thickness to suit your needs. Clean off all the old adhesive and strip the area with a degreaser.

Hey! I'll do better than that. I still have all the photos from my project so I added them to my thread. This way future generations of RS2 fans will have them.

It has been a while since there was anything interesting to report. Countless days of making wiring connections and checking the functionality of things as I go. It has been interesting. The headlights and fog lights were something that had me stumped for a while. The headlight problem was remedied with the purchase of the correct stalk switches. So it just took me spending money. Haha
I went round and round with the fogs. It turns out that there is an early and late harness. The early harness uses a relay to switch the fog light off when the high beams are on. There is no relay on the later harness. A metal jumper is used in the fuse box in place of the relay that allow for the fog to remain lit while the headlights on, both high and low beam. That took a collaboration between Mr. Nugent and myself to resolve.
The big news is that she is a runner. This involved a month of weekends to work through things. This was not without its own set of trouble. I have spent years preparing for this day and thought that it would be an "add fuel and turn the key" moment. It was not. After a couple of weekends if trying, I made the decision to rewind and start over. Started with the basics, timing, sensors, checked for the flywheel pin, relays, fuses, etc. All checked and still no start. I started to wonder what else would cause a no start. The fuel pump relay would never energize, but I could pull the lid off the relay and push the contacts together and bam, the pump would run. I thought that maybe the central locking/alarm pump might be causing this, so I tried a different unit. Nothing. I reached out to Mr. Nugent again for some expert assistance. Paul had me all over the car with my multimeter. After almost two hours of work we had the car running. It boiled down to the incorrect central locking pump. I was thrilled. 21 years and it was finally running, but the sound was wrong. I had a miss on cylinder 2. A new POS was already here for the cars so popped that in and the miss was gone. That wonderful 5 cyl sound via a turbo back (no cat) SuperSprint exhaust finally filled the garage.
The first start with the miss and the oil pressure warning going off. I only let it run for a few secs. You can hear the exhaust note just isn't right. The oil pressure warning was due to have the wiring backwards on the sender. I swapped the blue and black and no more warning light.
Sounding much better after replacing the POS unit.

Congratulations to you sir! I've been following this almost from the start and bought myself an RS2 back in 2009. Being in Europe, a lot easier. Your work has made me complete and correct some of the parts of my car that were out of order after all those years.
Good luck with the last part of the journey and keep us posted!

On to the brakes. I built all the lines and the calipers were all new so the system was full of air. I asked a friend of mine to assist with bleeding. Starting with the caliper furthest from the master cylinder it went well until we got to the front right. In short, we could not get fluid to the caliper. After we worked our way back it became very apparent that the ABS pump was the problem. It was clogged, probably due to sitting for so many years. I ended up pulling it and applying compressed air. It never budged. I made the decision to replace it with one from my parts stash as they are all the same. I swapped in the replacement and was able to bleed all 4 corners without issue.
The clutch was a different story.
This was a royal pain. Every method that has worked for me in the past did not work. I hit the forum for help and discovered that a pressure bleeder was a must.....especially in my situation where the entire system was new and full of air. I bought a Mityvac unit that uses shop air as opposed to one with a hand pump. I also bought a cheap 11mm spanner and cut it down to the point where I could work the bleeder valve through the engine bay. Once I had everything in place it took less than 5 min to bleed the clutch. With that done I aligned the shifter and verified that I could get all 6 gears and reverse by running the car on the lift.
A pic of the pressure bleeder in action.

My children were very happy to know that they had been replaced by a machine.

Merry Christmas! It make me happy to know that this madness has inspired and helped others maintain their RS2/S2s. That has been part of my motivation. I wanted to document with pictures, part numbers, and detailed descriptions of what I was doing to be a source for others. Some of the photos on the thread were lost during a forum upgrade a few years back, if let me know if you need a pic of something or anything else.Congratulations to you sir! Merry Christmas from The Netherlands!
Thanks Jeffrey! Good to hear from you! It has been a very long road. An empty body shell from Germany to this point.
Thank you for your support in all this!

Thanks! I am hoping to get it on the road soon! I took some time over the holiday to ensure that the suspension/axles were torqued to spec. I could not remember what I had tightened so I loosened everything and retorqued it all. I dropped the car on a set of old wheels to perform this work as all of this is to be done with the car on the ground.

This was another milestone day. It was the first time that the car has moved out of the garage under its own power. Even my boys were telling me that it was strange to see it outside. I drove down our drive and came back.....full throttle and actually was able to shift into 2nd before getting on the binders. She moves well.
Time to make an appointment to have the alignment done!
