What's the difference between an RS2 front wing and a standard late 80 one? I thought it was the side repeaters, but then UK spec RS2s seem to have them anyway.
Side repeaters are an aftermarket mod so to speak for the wings, It's law in the U.K for new cars to have them, if you buy RS2 wings brand new there are no holes for the side repeaters and they have to be cut to get them in.
People like S2avant have bought new wings to remove side repeaters
I'll be bringing the RS home from the paint shop tomorrow so I should have a couple of pics soon. I'm going to start laying the wiring. Should be interesting.........
It's looking just lovely. I meant to snap a picture, but forgot. I'm having it crated up and shipped stateside. A few details to work through, but that's pretty much the plan.
She's finally home after 10 months. I carried her home yesterday morning and immediately started the rebuild process. I found my self standing in the garage surrounded by a bunch of flip top containers scratching my head struggling to figure out where I wanted to start. Then it hit me......
The first order of business was to get a grill in that empty hole in the front. Side note: my wife came out later in the day and was checking things out and out of nowhere says "I really like that grill. It's very cool looking". I couldn't have been more proud.
I then started working on the door latches and inner door workings. Scrubbed the door seals and installed them. I then decided I wanted to see that red rear hatch handle installed so I started digging in my containers. Voila! A couple of bolts and it was installed. Then I pulled the box containing the new RS2 Heckblende. :mischeif: A couple of minutes later it was mounted. It was dark now and my wife was calling me to dinner. I have gotten clearance from the control tower to have an RS2 day again today so........ By the way, it's been 34 degrees here in Georgia with 70 percent humidity, but I don't even feel it.
Installed a new 45 degree Fuba BetaFlex D aerial on the roof. S2 avants used a 60 degree aerial, BTW.
Tom that's great, has been a long time coming and now it will be great watching you build it up over the coming months... know how that humid heat is, spent some time in KY. An early foggy morning felt like home until i realised it was 75F...
I'm out here in the garage...... anyone know which hole the wiring harness for the headlights and horn come through in the firewall?
I pulled out the engine harness, abs harness, and the lighting harness and compared the grommet sizes. The ABS grommet is the smallest.....one down. Of course the engine harness was the largest so it takes the largest hole. I looks like the wiring harness comes through the firewall between the ABS and engine harnesses.
Can anyone confirm?
Thanks for the words of encouragement fellas.
Today was a busy day. I mounted the latches in the rear hatch door and their counterparts in the body. I tossed the long wire that I had been using to hold the hatch shut now that it will remained closed on its own. I still need to figure out how the push rods are configured. If anyone has a "how to" do tell.
The fuse box is in place now with a new gooey seal. I also mounted a few of the wiring brackets on the firewall too. The roof bars also were returned to the previous places on top. I've missed seeing them up there.
