Is this information in an Audi workshop manual? Can you show me please?

No, this is not information from the manual Audi. This is the result of user feedback quattro who stripped shafts and if someone does not position it was pointed out then shake / vibration. For some reason, joints, and support does not possess OEM number in ETKA and Audi is sold complete with all the drive shaft.

Put together so far, do nothing, if it turns out that there are vibrations that you will look for companies that can balance the drive shaft. If you have such a Balance in the area immediately, you will sleep peacefully.

Drive shaft joints GKNLobro company in Poland you can buy new without any problems, I do not like you in the USA.

I think you're getting confused with propshaft problems? Drive shafts don't need balancing

Tom I'm surprised you have not got a zinc plating bath, to make all of these refreshed parts all nice and shiny gold again? Keep up the good work

You are wrong, the quattro drive shaft is being balanced.

I see your point and it could be possible, but you can buy the inner joints separately from Audi, part number 431 498 103 CX. Item 13 on the sheet below. If Audi sells them as a replacement part then you would think that they would provide a way to ensure that the replacement part is installed in a manner that would ensure that the balance is maintained. I have replaced lots of CV joints over the years and have not had a balance problem.

Both outer and inner joints are also available from Lobro/GKN here in the US, thank goodness.

Error, I was thinking the same thing.

Gentlemen, I am not talking about the half axes of division but of the drive shaft.
I think I did not understand the end.

                    No worries.

Yes, you are 100% correct, the main/central drive shaft must be balanced and aligned to avoid unwanted vibrations.

                    Glad that's sorted.

Got the front axle shafts back from the coater today. I chose the semi-gloss black, which looks the part. I guess I know what I will be doing this weekend.

I also snapped a couple of pictures of the new heat shields. I'm still lacking the right side one on the tunnel. If anyone has one in good nick please give me a shout.

Also seen in this picture is the new steering rack seal and a few other new nuts and bolts. We don't want any crusty old hardware in here.

Finally got the lower shield fitted above the engine mount area.
