s2 has a new stable mate

      This

      With this in it

      And engine issues......

Just got it home tonight, info I have is oil pressure dropped, started making rattly top end noises.

Will see what is in the sump when I get some free time.

nice addition Did that use to be a V6 avant? As i didn't think they ever made a 20v avant, and definately not one with a strut brace?
Or was it an S2 avant shell at one time?

I'd check the oil pressure with proper guage before going to made stripping the subframe off to remove the sump, the oil pressure sender might be junk. BTDT

It was a v6 quattro avant, converted to 20v by Nogin for Owen, it was then sold and new owner was driving it home, lost pressure and started rattling, it was going to be scrapped so I bought it.

Cranked it in the driveway when I got it home, top end rattled pretty bad, like it had no oil.

I will have a proper look at it when I have a day of and the garage is tidied. Does the subframe have to come off to get the sump off?

20vs are cheap but if I can fix it rather than swap another engine in the that would be nice.

yeah you need the subframe off to get the sump off unfortunately mate. Oil pick-up screen might be partially blocked perhaps?

Spent an hour on the 80 today, waiting to get hold of an engine crane now to pop the engine out.

Lots of space in the 7a compared to a 3b, makes life much easier.

Phoned the company who I insure my s2 with and they told me no way

Cheers, biggest problem looks like it will be insurance, will need to contact some specialists, might just end up giving it to my dad. Have you looked at insurance for your swap?

                      Picked up some 17x8 wheels

                      Had them on briefly

Steering is much sharper/twitchier, however tyres are crap in the wet so back off for the winter.

looks like the avants got a oil catch tank. Keep it 7a as its rare.

There must be insurers that specialise in this sort of thing. There are so many cars out there in the vw scene with different engines in!

                              Yup catch tank already installed.

I have sourced a 7a, hopefully have it in a week on Sunday, or my next day off after that.

Yup, everything was fine until we got to engine size, 2309 I say, she says it should be a 2.6, I explain and she says sorry we do not insure cars with engine swaps

Yeah there are specialist insurers, will see how much though.
