I broke 2 on the K26 on my ur, flush with the surface, I drilled them out and tapped them, came out perfectly, the studs are a lot softer than the casting. I do have reasonable metalworking skills, a degree of patience and didn't at any point attempt to use a dremel
I have access to a decent pillar drill.

I got another k26, this time with a 50mm exducer, beleived to be porsche, possibly a 944

Hotside

And the hotside on the volvo turbo

If the compressor is the limiting factor in this hybrid it doesn't seem to make sense to install a larger exhaust wheel for more flow, might as well get fast spool.
This hotside also has a snapped stud so I will be copying Newsh, and avoiding a dremel
Seems like a good excuse to get a pillar drill.
I installed a 710N I have had lying about for a while, left it as an atmoshperic dump for about half an hour, its funny for about that long, makes a lot of noise but runs like crap at part throttle/low revs, really anytime there is vacum. Would need to mount the MAF pressure side to run it like that, and it is not very stealthy.Current-2004 Impreza PPP wagon

Decided to sort the wishbone bush this evening;
Wishbone off;

And the shot bush, came apart in my hands;

Slot the press fit part

Chisel/drift out

Start pressing in new bush, old bush can be used;

And something to support the wishbone to allow the bush to come through;

Might as well do the other bush at the same time, I didn't have anything to burn the bushes with, so drilled a few holes and forced the centre out;

Grab with molegrips and twist out;

I tore the balljoint boot, so stole one off a spare wishbone and cleaned it up (thanks Acidburn/Peter)

All assembled;

And tighten with the suspension at loaded ride height;

Got a new front subframe, front wishbones, and a front anti roll bar/droplinks/wishbones for a front anti roll bar on the rear set-up ala error404

I am going to strip/clean/stitch weld/paint the new subframes/wishbones and re bush them as I collect the parts, then fit the lot in one go and get an alignment.
Still deciding between
OE
Meyle HD
Poly
Alloy
Also got to take the a pillar trim off, and try re sealing it to see if that sorts the water ingress.Current-2004 Impreza PPP wagon

coolio - whats size arb are you going with mate? I'm running a 22m rear bar ATM - its a nice match for the RS2 front bar and turn in is sharp and understeer is negligible, you tend to 4 wheel drift instead which is sweet. Together with the TORsen rear diff these are the two best mods I have done in terms of the cars behavior towards the limits of grip
I will probably downsize my rear bar once I have finished building my coilovers as I will run stiffer rear springs to try and improve the independence of the rear end
I can recommend poly - stiffer than rubber but doesn't transmit as much road noise as ally, a nice compromise

Nice one Andy. I think Poly all round will be my next project
Good plan to collect a complete set of parts and build up a pair of subframes ready for the swap.Comment

Dunno, whatever size Peter sent me, it came from a fwd car, I will measure it tomorrow. Your setup is a bit of an inspiration for me, lots of DIY improvements.coolio - whats size arb are you going with mate? I like the handling with the torsen diff on the throttle, the car balances beautifully, I would just like the car to be a bit more neutral at other times which I hope this will give me. As you say the bigger arb are making the suspension less independent, but a compromise between ride and handling has to be reached.
If I like the stiffer rear end when I get my custom springs made up I may get stiffer (or stiffer relative to stock fr/rr ratio) rears than fronts and drop the arb rates.
So you dont find the poly crashy? I dont want to lose compliance that results in traction loss, ie a car that is fast on a smooth track and useless on a b road which is what this car is for.Current-2004 Impreza PPP wagon

Yup, the are hosted elsewhere and then embedded.
Getting spare bits means i can take my time and fit nicely painted stuff to last a few more years, and also not get an alignment after fitting each part.
Also by buying the parts over time I can bury my head in the sand wit regard to how much I am going to spend re bushing

Yes, I see those, the other ones I could see if I used Safari instead of Firefox and clicked the blue ? mark and open the image in a new window

Nope, poly is a nice compromise just makes the car feel loads tighter without any added harshness. Mine gets properly abused on B-roads
