if you get stuck and someone says how to do it I have vagcom.

That is strange. Traction should not be an issue in 3rd gear and up. In my experience, quattro and decent tires will allow approx 0.85G of straight line acceleration with dry pavement and ambient temps above approx 5C. To put that number into perspective: a remapped RS2 will do approx. 0.55G peak in 2nd gear.If someone local has vagcom I'll quite happily do that as I wouldn't know how to do the fats no.s.
Come Feb/March I'll be doing the 30-130 event which is measured on gps performance box's. And hopefully next month santa pod will be open so again I'll have some more data then too.
I tried the gtech when I had 520hp and really struggled on consistent results in the real world based on either slope of road, length of road or traction of road. So I doubt it'll be any better now, worked fine when I had traction and 280hp though
I have G-Tech data from an Audi that is quoted at close to 700ps crank. It pulled 515whp on a Mustang dyno. Running the G-Tech data through the Virtual Dyno program yielded 501whp, so pretty much spot on with Mustang data. No surprise, since the Mustang dyno loads the car as it would on the road.1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)

Shouldn't have traction issues in 3rd if dry in damp definately no go. Tires are awesome in dry and barely squeal in 2nd and at a well prepped dragstrip wont break traction in first.
More the fact the only level stretch there is locally for testing runs out by the time you get to the top of 2nd. Let alone doing a 3rd gear pass or higher.
Whilst the airfield they use for the 30-130 is long enough to get to the top of the speedo hence I was going to grab the performance box figures from there.UrS6 Stroker + HTA3586 =

you have that nice 3/4 lane deristricted test track not far from your house, i've used it a few times coming down from northampton to yours

Well any immediate testing would have to exclude 1st and 2nd as just chewed the teeth right and proper. Apparently synchro gearbox's don't like 1st to 2nd at 8k. Tried to get 2nd and got an almighty crunch it will still engage 1st and 2nd but not very easily now.
Last time this happened it burred the teeth and they had to be filed smooth again. Quick and easy fix but just annoying that it's got to be pulled of so quickly. Think I'm going to have to look at shortshifting in first for the future as don't really fancy a dog box for the road.
Dual mass is holding well though

Jp,
What about a box from another car, don't know but something stronger from an oem higher powered car, e.g. an RS6 ?

Never nice that your clutch or gearbox is a weak link between all that power and being able to use it without fear of a breakage.
It'll most likely be more grief and expense in the short term, but a better bet in the long run.
Trying to "run in" the engine you built for me. It's hard.
Kind regards.Comment

JP have you rebuilt any of these box's or are they 2nd hand units. The rebuild video that JHM made talks about later syncro rings from the S4 being a fibre based material vs brass, might be worth rebuilding one with new synro hubs for 1st and 2nd and a set of the new style syncro rings. I plan to do mine someday as 1st to 2nd is always slow and cumbersum on these cars.
Or buy an S2, thats a heavy old bus your propelling around

The last one was a rebuild box with the carbon 1st / 2nd synchro.
Chassis twist coupled with weight of car and 8000rpm is making it difficult to shift. I'll pull the box chamfer the teeth lob it back together and see how it lasts. I may have to go back to the multiplate clutch for a more positive shift to counteract it. Trying to avoid it if I can help it though as the dual mss drives so nice although it does make the clutch engagement a tad sloppy. Guess you can't have best of both worlds after all.......
Last night it was 12celsius and dry roads and going from 2000rpm in 2nd she broke loose and got twitchy at 6000rpm. Power delivery is very smooth and progressive. Tires are 255/40 17's kumho ecsta sports with which I've always had amazing traction and handling till now.UrS6 Stroker + HTA3586 =

Do a G-tech pull and check what registered G it breaks loose at. It is quite possible that squat and weight transfer make it slip at different G values than the S2/RS2 chassis.
